What’s the book about?
Find the title of the book intriguing? Then you will love what’s about to come next in this book. Are you interested in making a move in the realms of business with a model that is simple and definitely feasible? Are you one of those who understand that amassing wealth overnight is reserved for lottery winners, treasure hunters and those with a serious disregard for the law? If yes, you will appreciate this book as it talks about a business that requires work and skill. It is not perfect – it has its flaws. But it also has its pros that make the flaws look inconsequential, if done correctly. This is a book that is going to talk about the ways I used to make money – money that is legal and which will make you happy. It is not about setting up a service that is going to go down in the books of charity. This is a book that will show you how a business can be made out of something so common that you, I and everyone else notices but fails to capitalise. Most importantly – this is a book that will give you an idea that can be decided and worked upon. The topics covered in the book are as follows:
Chapter 1 – Introduction
Chapter 2 – Why This Business Model Should Interest You
Chapter 3 – An Overview Of The Business Model And The Math Involved
Chapter 4 – Demand And Supply Explained Using Earning And Buying Miles
Chapter 5 – Channels To Operate In – Websites, Paid Media, SEO And Social Media
Chapter 6 – Selling The Idea
Chapter 7 – Tools Of Trading
Chapter 8 – Reference Workflow
Chapter 9 – Endorsements
Chapter 10 - Risks Involved
Chapter 11 – Profits – To Be Reinvested Or Diversified?
Chapter 12 – Clients
Chapter 13 – Incorporation
Chapter 14 – Ways To Grow
Chapter 15 – Epilogue
Appendix A – Case Study
Chapter 1 – Introduction
One definition of business is that you seize a convenient idea and make it pay. Note the key words: convenient and idea. I am sure most of you reading this book are already gainfully employed in a big, mid-sized or small business organization. So for you, any talk of business should first have its roots in convenience because let’s face it, after a 40 hours’ week (that’s the official count, though you and I both know unofficially that number’s always more than 40!), you lack the interest and energy to execute a business plan that is going to further drain your energy and a little bit of your financial reserves. Next, look at the word that I’ve used – idea. Everybody gets ideas. Some of them are plain foolish while some of them astonish us with their brilliance in simplicity.
The business model explained in detail here capitalises on both these aspects. Have just an hour each day to spare? Not a very imaginative person but are focused and good with numbers? Not a problem. The plan revolves around such a common activity that presents many business opportunities but which largely go unnoticed. To give you a little hint – airline companies and flight tickets play a very important role here. Now, let’s look at some enticing numbers to give you an idea of the quantum of potential lying waiting to be grabbed.
Recently, it was estimated that the travel industry of the world was worth US $6.5 TRILLION. It was also observed that the number of people who travelled internationally had crossed the 1 BILLION mark. United States was one of the top three countries in the list of nations with the largest number of travellers.
