About this ebook
Ethyl Friddle didn't plan to be a cat collector. It came about one day when Ethyl saw a certain cat being batted with a broom. Of course she knew right off that was a cat that needed saving. She was forced her to tell a lie. One lie led to another--as is often the case. Before Ethyl knew it, she had multiple problems: First, she had a big cat problem. She also found that she had become an 'item' at school--with Fred Williams--which was completely against her parents' rules. There was trouble at home, of course, but Ethyl's biggest problem was finding a way to keep everything from spinning completely out of control. Ethyl has a big heart and a sense of justice. It's a heart big enough to SAVE THE CATS--that's what she calls her mission.
Ethyl the Cat Collector is a short story for girls AND boys. One that focuses on on making good choices, building strength of character, and finding happiness along the way from childhood to adulthood.
M L S Baisch
M L S BAISCH writes for children because kids deserve a world with good stories. Her tales are fantastical, but also have messages for those of us who live in the real world. They may, and often do, highlight the importance of making good choices. Generally it's someone's bad choice that makes a good story. The story is in the difficulties that result and the circuitous route taken to undo what's been done. If there's a bit of fun along the way, so much the better! M L S BAISCH lives in rural Idaho with her husband, a Sphynx cat named Bugs, and a Doberman Pinscher named Harry.

How big a nuisance can a cat be?
Some people collect buttons or stamps or pennies. I've heard of butterfly collections and spoon collections–my grandma collects spoons. My dad collects books he never gets around to reading, and my mom says all they do is collect dust. She collects tea cups that are never used–no one drinks tea at our house–but they're pretty, with birds and flowers on them. They collect dust too. The kids I know collect really strange things like bullfrogs and baseball caps or, would you believe it, this one girl named Eloise collects pebbles! But only pebbles that turn a funny color when they're wet, which is really nuts because Eloise keeps the pebbles in a box where they're never wet unless she wants to show them off, which isn't very often because who wants to look at wet pebbles? Just Eloise, I guess.
But I don't like collections. Mostly collections are to look at and not to touch. The bullfrogs were weird but at
