CHAPTER 1
Tuesday before Thanksgiving in Warfield's Landing
Nic slid the small table away from the cafe window. It was the last window to be painted before Thanksgiving. She'd paint the other holiday themed windows next week.
Deftly, she taped clean drop cloths along the windowsill and secured them to the floor. Draping another drop cloth over a table, she set up her supplies.
She had painted quick sketches for each window on illustration board. Mixing the very first color, she dabbed it on the sketch to check that it was a match.

Ruth Ann laughed ruefully. As a person without a single artistic bone in her body, what you can do borders on magic for me. I love the windows... Don't get me wrong, but there's something about these sketches that you did...
She held up the current sketch and compared it to the window. "Now, seeing the window itself, and the paint swatches on the sketch... It gives the sketch much more power. I can see it as part
