      It was this lifestyle that had driven a wedge between them: the risk taking, the secrets, and the danger that went with the badge. And now Alessandra was right in the thick of things, fleeing into the Black Hills with a rifle scope aimed at her back and a rogue marshal at her side. But the worst danger came from McBride himself--a man whom she'd never stopped loving since the day they met.
