About this ebook
The assignment for the sophomore students was to write a persuasive essay of 600-1000 words with a partner. That of the four freshmen students was an informative essay of the same length. Topics were suggested, but negotiable. There were exceptions, of essays without partners, or trios. Teams of three were asked to write two mini-essays.
For nearly all of these students, it was their first time to write an essay in English.

Tech : Kakao Talk and Facebook hurt us.
Major : Airline service
Name : Ju Hwan KIM
It is suggested that using 'Social Network Service (SNS)' is helpful for people, and some people believe that Social NetWork Service such as Kakaotalk and Facebook gives people a lot of help nowadays. I think it is absolutely true, and living without social media could bring people many difficulties in four main areas.
Firstly, people these days can communicate at anytime, and it does not matter wherever people who you want to talk with are. As a good example, there are two women named Samantha Futerman an actress from New Jersey and Anais Bordier a fashion designer from Paris. They look remarkably similar. After Bordier spotted Futerman in some Youtube videos, she sent a Facebook message asking where Futerman was born. As it turns out, the two were born in the same Korean town on the same day. They finally knew that they are twins, and they had managed to find each other thanks to social media. So, I think Social Networking Sevice is good in a global society.
Secondly, people can save time. For example, in the past people usually sent letters, and they took three or more days to receive. However, these days people do not need to wait for a long time. People can do other things in that time. Furthermore, they can concentrate on their tasks by using less time to contact or search.
Simultaneously, Social Network Service also help people with their business. Social media is a good way to advertise for people's shops, products, and events. It is the fastest way to introduce companies' new products to public.
The last area is about education. For instance, if I wonder about something I can search on the Internet or if I do not understand things that I did in the classes, I can watch lectures on Youtube. In fact, forty-one percent of faculty use social media in the classroom, and this use continues to experience steady year-to-year growth. Moreover, it can make students pay attention, and students are likely to understand easily.
To sum up, it is clear that if people use Social Network Service in their lives, then their lives will be faster and good in quality. I strongly believe that Social Network Service makes people's lives more comfortable and easier.

Introduction
The world might be a better place than it was in the past, but we still live in the fear of crimes, and we can frequently see stories of horrifying and unforgivable murders on the news. Just a few days ago, the whole country was shocked when a woman in Suwon was found in a bag cut into 280 pieces and was furious when the criminal was clam about the act he had committed. (Korea Times 2012 [Online]) This brought up the controversy of the death penalty again an issue that has been discussed for a long time. The nature of this issue is very complicated because it concerns not only the social factors but, the moral factors also. This essay will focus extensively on the introduction and conclusion of the death penalty
Ground1: Possibility of abuse and misjudgment
Human progress trial and statute become the symbol of power. Then the human who has power can assume the black cap to the guiltless person. That is to say he abuses the strong arm of the law. If it were not so, we couldn't absolutely exclude possibility of misjudgment, because all humans are fallible.
Let's suppose one execution were carried out before or without correction of misjudgment. In that event, his life can't be restored. So, this execution can't explain about legitimacy on any account.
Ground2: Brain disorders
There are congenital disorders and acquired disorders of the brain, and these have connection with crime when the frontal lobe has problem. By the way, the frontal lobe is a part of brain, controls rationality and violence.
Congenital disability
Psychopaths are the representative example. Their action is usually inhuman and they act without hesitation, because their frontal lobe is distinct from others. However, they are human all the same. Every human has no right to discuss and deprive someone's human rights, but they can set the limits of criminals’ human rights. For example, government provide very basic things to criminal and restrain their liberty in prison. That is to say, they can minimize criminals’ human rights. The government can't abandon by killing them, they need to minimize and observe if they can be reformed or not. I think this is a ideal penalty.
Acquired disabilities.
A real research case said that there was a man who became violent after having a brain surgery by a misfortunate accident, and the surgery removed the frontal lobe. Presently, many studies about the brain are continuing. Also new treatments about brain are being actively developed. Curing criminals with that is an academic and social benefit. In addition, it will be a big support for getting rid of potential culprits, If the therapies are successful.
Ground3: Contradictoriness of society and human rights
Human rights are something with which no other man has the privilege to interfere. As
