Inside Insight: A Collection of Poems
By Mel Vil
()
About this ebook
Get ready to be captivated by the deeply introspective mind of Mel Vil as he shares his unique perspective on life in this highly anticipated second volume of poetry.
Inside Insight is a thought-provoking and emotionally charged collection of poems that explores Mel Vil's outlook on personal experiences, worldviews, and the human condition. Unlike his previous works, such as Buenos Aires and the Origins of Sausse, this volume takes readers on a figurative journey through four distinct parts, drawing inspiration from Poe's House of Usher.
Starting in the garden, readers are immediately transported to a world of stark desolation that surrounds Mel Vil's abode. With his characteristic directness, Mel Vil wastes no time in taking readers straight to his bedroom, where they'll encounter his collection of portrait trophies. But this is just the beginning of the journey. In a dramatic twist, Mel Vil will take you through a metaphysical wall and into the city, using this as a metaphor for the human experience. And be prepared for a gripping and emotional conclusion, as Mel Vil brings readers face to face with his own personal hell.
This volume is not for the faint of heart, but rather for those who crave a deep and honest exploration of the human condition. The poems are filled with raw emotion, powerful imagery, and thought-provoking metaphors. While there may be sparks of hope, this is not a collection that sugarcoats the harsh realities of life. But it's precisely this honesty that makes Inside Insight so compelling and relevant.
Whether you're an avid poetry reader or simply looking for a powerful and thought-provoking read, Inside Insight by Mel Vil is a must-have addition to your bookshelf. Join Mel on this journey through the depths of his soul and gain a newfound understanding of the human experience.

Inside Insight - Mel Vil
Part I: The garden
The ego has flown
A man points fingers to the sky,
So I ask him why,
‘I’m trying to shoot my ego back down to the planet,
God-dammit.
An elusive experience has inflated me,
Now I have to be chasing me.’
Dancing demons
Dancing demons exit my consciousness, fleeing unknown sources of agitation, burning holes as they leave.
Shape-changing dreamers invite me to play in little paradises, energised by electronic beats, mixed intoxicants and random stimulants.
Chain-smoking withdrawal symptoms await the opportunity to fell me in this moment of my prime, ridiculing my efforts and criticisms of how they disappoint me with their low intensity and irregular frequency and leaving me still here, still, contemplating a return to the city for just one more dose.
Risky relationships overpower my chances of ascertaining just exactly how the game can be half fun and half frustration.
Desert spectres do more than just await me, circling the house and dancing under the wispy clouds and star-scattered ceiling as if they enjoyed what the night does to us in terms of energy dissipation.
Crescent moons wax and wane in my horizon, illuminating with varying degrees relative to the horizons of the night-time constituent life.
Rustic surroundings implore my creative side to take a break from the intrigue of such areas of wealth, temptation and bad karma.
Mountain energy vibrates through my house at less than five cycles a minute, presenting my only hope of staying pure inside during the time I have to be here. I bathe in its frequency and let my muscles relax.
Situational coincidence, surrounded by people who are supposedly here for similar reasons yet whose hearts play the opposite tune, taunts me with notions of life and how it is not as straight forward as it should be.
Homeland comforts pale in comparison to what I could have here, yet still pressure me to be the man, the country gentleman, free of gadgets, ties and cuff-links, playboy lifestyle but only hiding the promise of never returning home.
No doubt my mind
Of course, no doubt could exist
In a parallel appearance of this nature,
Manifested in gold bullion,
Stocked far from harm’s way.
Although it’s a point to make a difference
Start with new words
Brown ink,
Build on a blank space.
Jot geometric inconsistencies.
Memories flood back and conclusions draw themselves
As do similarities and analogies
And poplar trees and angled bees
One set of circumstances lead to another
Cause and effect may or not be clear
I hold on to large numbers of things
Starting with these words
Time is long enough to heal wounds
They are too dull to sharpen
The edges of what was once clear
Avoiding the mistake of the past
Relies on remembering the nature of it
No doubt remains in my mind
No thought is left behind
I stay where I am
Not to find out where there is
But to avoid going back
So afraid am I of the mistake of the past
I venture far forward seldom.
The woodland floor
Flitting around, lakes and mountains,
The slate grey and damp green,
Across pine
