      Chapter One

      I squeezed my eyes shut against the morning light and rolled over, snuggling down into the overstuffed comforter. Settling into the bed, I opened my eyes to see Eric. He was breathing rhythmically, his bare chest moving up and down in a way that I found seductive. His muscular arms were up near his head, and his dark hair rested on the white pillow. I sighed. I could still feel a lingering tingle on my bottom, a reminder of our play session the night before. Eric had dominated me completely, and I had loved every minute.

      I’d met Eric in the baffling, thrilling world of The Illuminated. Eric had grown up in this religious community, but had left to pursue an education and a life in a wider world. I had written a paper for school on this incredible group of people, and I had found them fascinating. My paper had been turned in months before, but I still wanted to know more. My professor encouraged me to continue gathering information. He thought I might even be able to put it into a book one day.

      That was the reason I needed to get out of this comfortable bed and get dressed. I had a date with The Illuminated. The last time I’d visited I sat in on a marriage class for young men in the church who were engaged. This time I was going to see the class for the young women.

      As I moved to leave the bed, Eric caught me by the arm. His smile was slow and easy. Where do you think you’re going?

      I grinned. I have to get ready. I’ve got to be out there by ten.

      He nodded and pulled me back down into the bed. You’ve got a few minutes.

      Eric and I were more than friends but not exactly a couple. He was the guy I called when I needed a sexual release, and I needed it fast. Eric’s techniques were so intense, so consuming, that good old-fashioned sex just didn’t hold the same appeal it once had. Eric could dominate like no one I’d ever met in my life. He made me feel sexy and submissive. His voice could send a chill all over my body, and I would find myself squirming in anticipation of what would happen next.
