    Meaning and Stages

Yoga means union with Brahman, the Creator of the universe i.e. Supreme God who is:

    1. One & Only one (Ekammebadwitiyam)

    2. Ubiquitous i.e. exists in every particle of the universe (Sarbam Khallidam)

    3. Invisible & Attribute free (Nirakara & Nirguna)

Naturally there are no deities in yoga.[1] I use the term Raj-yoga to distinguish it from Lay-yoga, Hath-yoga, Bhakti-yoga, Jnan-yoga and Karma-yoga.

Yogic philosophy is completely in conformity with true Hindu religion based on the three pious Vedas (Rik, Sam & Yajur) and free from all mysticism, idolatry, occult practices and esoteric rituals.

Yogic methods are specifically mentioned in the Katha and Shvetashvatara Upanishads
