About this ebook
Purple Eyes is a collection of poetry written during a young woman's healing process after six years of abuse. It is a story of the early stages of her journey toward defining herself by who she wants to be rather than by what has happened to her.
Shalight Saja
Shalight Saja is a fighter and chooses to be defined as such. She is an eighteen-year-old survivor of years of physical, emotional, and sexual assault by a familial same-sex perpetrator. Yet she has been blessed by a Father who loves her, friends who support her, and pens lying atop blank paper. Shalight began writing as an outlet for venting at age twelve. As her understanding of what was happening deepened, so did her love for poetry. Venting became vocalizing, and writing became her tool to explain to herself and others what she has experienced. She does this through her collection of poetry, Purple Eyes.

BEDTIME STORIES
This is the stuff of fairy tales.
Not the happy stories with which we humor children, but the real stories. Real life. Reality.
This is the story of the Sleeping Beauty who is still stuck in a hundred-year nightmare.
This is the story of the Cinderella who never let the fairy godmother close enough to help.
This is the story of the Little Mermaid who was never strong enough to find her voice and speak out.
This is the story of the Beauty who loved the
