Upon obtaining her BSFS from Georgetown University’s Foreign Service School, Amal worked as a political reporter for Jordan’s Jerusalem Star and then as a political researcher for the Jordanian Mission at the United Nations in New York, before returning to Jordan to do social work. In 1987, she received an MSc in International Policy from Stanford University. After a career in international business Amal returned to Beirut, where she established MEI, a regional research outfit and acted as adviser to Ghassan Tueni, publisher of An-Nahar newspaper, Lebanon’s leading daily.view less
