He was a columnist, author, and lecturer. His career began at the Winnipeg Tribune and later he became a columnist for the Vancouver Sun. His columns were instrumental in developing environmental awareness in Canada. Later in Toronto he became a strong activist voice as an on-air personality for CityTV.
