He was born in China in 1932. In 1956, as a young assistant professor of physics, he criticized the government and was reeducated in a labor camp for over two years. Later he became a high school substitute teacher. In the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976) he was sent to the countryside to become a peasant making about 25 fens (about 5 cents in US money) a day for three years. In 1978 he was permitted to join his parents and siblings in Hong Kong. He worked as a technical offiffi cer in the Hong Kong Public Works Department until he immigrated to the United States as a political refugee in 1981. In the US he worked in the New York State Department of Transportation, fifi rst as a technician and later as an engineer from 1981 to 2003 until his retirement.
In 1999 he published a health book titled DYNAMIC CHIKUNG including a project Complete
Democracy in the USA in which he proposes all authorities in public and private sectors should be periodically, democratically elected to eliminate institutionalized bureaucracy.
He lives in New York City. He has a daughter and a son.view less
