Aged 55, he graduated in Electrical Engineering from Bangalore University in 1980.
Having joined the Indian IT industry in 1983, he has worked in various capacities with Tata Unisys Limited (now part of TCS) and IBM India between 1985 and 2011. Although this is his first book, nearly 50 of his articles have been published since 1993 in Dataquest (an Indian IT publication), CIOL.com and pmplanet.com. He has worked extensively in providing IT services to global customers primarily from the US. He has rich experience covering functions like Project Management, Risk Management and Business Development.
Between 1993 and 1996, he worked in a business development role in Tokyo and multiple locations in the US. During this period, outsourcing IT projects to India was still evolving even in the US. He was instrumental in winning large offshore projects, one of them involving development of new applications from India.
After joining IBM India in 1997, he worked on developing IBM’s global delivery capability in India between 1998 and 2000. Later, he performed multiple roles in project management, risk management and managing contract SLAs. He trained multiple batches of IBM project managers preparing for their PMP certification. For several years, he worked with one of IBM’s largest ADM (Application Development and Maintenance) accounts.
He regularly reads books and publications in business and management as a part of his profession. Since 2006, he has developed expertise on the global economy through extensive reading and self study. In 2012, he has written several articles for CIOL.com on opportunities in Europe for IT services. In recent months, he has been writing regularly on topics related to project management in pmplanet.com.
He lives in Bangalore where he has been working as an independent management consultant. He is married to Gayathri. They have two sons, one of them a young software professional.
