- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Same problem here as with their other "Left Behind" books - characters who are essentially identical to each other because they are all goody-two-shoes, refusal to actually research what the Bible says, white-washing the holes in the plot and so on, and bad guys who are annoyingly stupid.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Armageddon, the thrilling eleventh book in the best-selling inspirational series of all time, with over 40 million copies in print, continues the sweeping, apocalyptic saga of the end of time on planet earth and reaches new heights with a story listeners will never forget. It is the final year of the Great Tribulation. The Tribulation Force is holding out in their San Diego safe house, but in reality, there is no place left that can be called safe. All the world's remaining armies have gathered in the Middle East, poised for the battle of the ages and preparing for the mighty beasts of the apocalypse. The wasted shell of once-beautiful planet Earth has been reduced to a ticking time bomb, staggering under the weight of judgments from heaven. Mankind is hurtling toward the Battle of Armageddon and the ultimate showdown between the forces of good and evil. Who will survive at the end of the world?
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The great war of Armageddon takes place. Not all of our heroes survive. But God is the victor. The imagery regarding the antichrist's fate is particularly interesting.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5All of the Left Behind series is provacative, and real page turners. I would recommend these to anyone. I read them about once a year.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Wow, how I could see the horseman riding into the world through this book. Great!
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I enjoyed the story as fiction. I laughed, cried, fumed, and shouted--all positive things--but I want to temper that strongly by saying that I wouldn't suggest it as theological or eschatological material, as some have. I'm not really concerned with the order and how's of end-time events and believe we waste too much time trying to figure it out. As Jesus said: "No one knows the times or the seasons, but my heavenly Father." Do worry about it. Live and hope. You don't need to have it all marked out on a calendar. If someone were to ask me what fictional literature I would suggest, this series wouldn't occur to me at all, and I wouldn't suggest it if it did. But, seeing as I have read it (except the last one and the prequels), I felt like I ought to review it. For story, I would give it three stars, maybe four. But my reservations pull that rating down to two.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I jumped to this eleventh in the series after reading only the first Left Behind novel (I was unimpressed with the first book but did want to get to the glorious appearing/return of Christ, and I wasn't sure how much that would be set up here), knowing only loosely what went on in between. I didn't find it too jarring. You might need to know that everyone is expected to have the mark of the beast, but other than that you can piece it together as you go. I was surprised how little was focused on Armageddon itself. The first half or more was focused on just a couple days of the believers hiding from the dystopian one-world government.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Book still has a riviting effect as your reading this.. it's hard to discribe. The characters are so life like and play such an important role. The story line keeps moving and I can't wait until the next book.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The eleventh book in the series was not as good as the first ten. The tribulation force is drawn to the middle east. As the last of the Great tribulation comes to a close, friends are formed and lost, homes are uprooted and things are not looking good for those left behind. This was not my favorite of the series but good nonetheless, this entire series is a must read in my book. It scored a 3 out of 5.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5This is the eleventh book in the Left Behind series. Though the story is fast paced in this book. It was not a page-turner as the previous one. I normally read these books in one afternoon. This took me two days to finish. It is just not a page-turner that a couple of the other books in the series are. But even though we still have the two-dimensional characters, the book has an even and steady flow to it. The Antichrist is rallying his armies for the last battle. He plans to destroy the Remnant in Petra and take over Jerusalem. And he is sure since he read the Bible himself and knows what to expect...that he can win. Our heroes prepare to defend both places against horrible odds. One of our heroes is martyred in the middle of the book and some die. The novels pace slowly picks up toward the end when Armageddon actually begins. The defenders of Petra and Jerusalem fight valiantly against overwhelming odds. As we all anticipate the Glorious Appearing. Which of course does not happen. Though I find this book to be of lesser quality of most of the other sin the series. It is still worth the read.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I am almost done with this series.
There are places when the story dragged a bit but overall, I found myself looking forward to the next book. I enjoyed the characters.
I was surprised at how certain passages brought emotions to the surface. I am a Christian with Jewish ancestors so this hit me in all sorts of places.
I know some found the series too long, too over the top, too simple or just not factual. I think we will all take away something different from the Left Behind books. Whatever you believe, it's worth reading for the historical references alone.
As I always say, one book leads me to another and in this case I have found myself reading books on theology...again.
