    Margaret Renkl is the author of Graceland, At Last and Late Migrations, which was a Read with Jenna/TODAY Show book club selection. She is a contributing opinion writer for The New York Times, where her essays appear weekly. Her work has also appeared in Guernica, Literary Hub, Proximity, and River Teeth, among others. She was the founding editor of Chapter 16, the daily literary publication of Humanities Tennessee, and is a graduate of Auburn University and the University of South Carolina. She lives in Nashville.

      I grew up in an apartment building in Manhattan and have lived in apartments all my life, currently on the 21st floor. The subject matter of this book couldn't be more foreign to me, but I loved it - not just the stories, but also the lilting voice of the author.

      It’s beautiful and really well written, but not my kind

      Beautiful and eye opening. I listened to the audiobook. Initially, I was not sure about the author using her own voice. But by chapter two there was a charm that only the writer could bring to this story. This was one of those books that I hated for it to end.

      A wonderful companion to puttering in life. Gave great pause and reflection, allowing me to reassess my own understandings of loss and living.
