About this audiobook

Grab the next exciting installment from USA Today Bestselling author Melissa Schroeder set in the Camos and Cupcakes world!

For years, I’ve loved him. Not that I ever told him, or that he would ever be able to tell. I hid it from him…from everyone including my best friend.
Travis Fillmore is my best friend’s brother and the object of my infatuation. He’s also my cohost for our home improvement show and we are zooming to the top right now. Unfortunately, I can’t work with him any more. He’s pushed me too far with his antics and I’m walking away. Only, he just realized how much he needs me on the show and he wants me back. He just pops into town and thinks I will forgive and forget.

At first, I don’t believe him, but he won’t go away. He tells me that he’s changed, that he can be professional. And I believe him. Until he kisses me…and then does a whole lot more. A night with him is a fantasy come true–until someone threatens our happiness. An overzealous fan…I can deal with that. What scares me is the man who could shatter my heart and leave me broken.

Warning: This book include breaking and entering, donuts, sarcastic friends, a woman with many trust issues, a man who doesn’t realize what he wants until he almost loses it, a weirdo who doesn’t understand boundaries, nosey neighbors, a trip to the Juniper Jail again, and a happily ever after for two people who finally admit they are in love.

Editor's Note

Sexy Rom-Com...

“Love to Hate You” includes both the best friend’s brother and workplace romance tropes, making for a lively path to the inevitable Happy Ever After. Schroeder’s writing is snarkily fierce and sexy, and it’s raucous fun to follow along with the protagonists as they have a one-night stand (oops) and then try to clean up the emotional mess that follows.

Author

Melissa Schroeder

From an early age, USA Today Bestselling author Melissa loved to read. First, it was the books her mother read to her including her two favorites, Winnie the Pooh and the Beatrix Potter books. She cut her preteen teeth on Trixie Belden and read and reviewed To Kill a Mockingbird in middle school. It wasn’t until she was in college that she tried to write her first stories, which were full of angst and pain, and really not that fun to read or write. After trying several different genres, she found romance in a Linda Howard book. Since her first published book, Grace Under Pressure, Mel has had over 60 short stories, novellas, and novels published. She has written in genres ranging from historical to contemporary to futuristic and has worked with 8 publishers although she handles most of her publishing herself. She is best known for her Harmless and Santini series. After years of following her military husband around the country and world, Mel happily lives with her family in horse and wine country in Northern Virginia.

This is a fast paced storyline with interesting characters that support the plot.

More slow burn than straight heat but I always appreciate a happy ending.

This was a long one. I think dragging out the plot about the mystery pulled away from the chemistry between the two main characters. 3/4 through and DNF.

Ok this book had soooo much potential. However the repetitiveness of everything made it pretty much unbearable. They mentioned the same things over and over not just a few things but pretty much EVERYTHING was repeated at least three times…. (Spoilers ahead) I can’t count how many times we heard about how much she “loves her small town but…” the fight at the bar, the relationship they have with each other and Syd and or their family. But seriously this book could be cut in half or even more if they didn’t repeat things so much.

Positives though we’re I guess the idea was good the home improvement talk was a bit interesting. I am not sure if I can finish it and I’m at 60%

While I did love the story line. I did find some parts a little hard to follow and wish there was a little longer spice scenes. Overall a good book to the series but make sure you read them in order or you will be lost

Not sure if my rating would be different if I read it instead of listened, but the narration seems slow and paused. They writing itself is repetitive. That combined with the dragged out narration made it boring and I didn’t have the patience to finish.

Too much redundancy in the characters thoughts. Certain things were just dragged out too much and proof that men are idiots.

Loves that it’s based on SW Texas. I’m a Houston native with cousins in Austin and San Marcos. I giggled when she went to HEB, as I keep the lights on there. Next time include Blue Bell.

I liked the story but it was beyond repetitive with the whole "they love each other but refuse to say anything and instead treat each other like shit" trope. Beyond annoying, why can't adults just behave like adults and not teenagers. I almost didn't make it through.

The female monologs were very drawn out and tedious but the overall story was sweet.

I read this book without reading Book 1, and had no issues.

This was a unique read that kept me engaged beginning to end, and it was a very welcome distraction at a time when I really needed one.

Not necessarily one that I personally would REread....but I'm glad I read it once, and will definitely check out more from this author.
