Swimming further up the river, life seemed to come to a standstill.
I had entered a dead zone, with no fish or creatures in sight.
But pushing on upstream, I was soon rewarded with the sight of a beautiful chalk river.
Swimming for miles already in the late-April heat, I was exhausted.
But as I turned around to head home, I suddenly noticed a pillowcase, snagged on a fallen branch.
Why would someone throw a pillowcase away? I thought.
Grabbing it, its weight threw me off. Then, I realised it was filled with lots of jewels!
