The Shadow of James Dunsby

Corporal James Dunsby died in hospital on 30 July 2013 from multiple organ failure caused by dehydration during a Special Forces selection march in the Brecon Beacons. The accident made major headlines in the national press at the time. This year marks the 10th anniversary of his death, and a respectable distance to explore some unusual experiences I had around my friend’s untimely demise. James had sat next to me in a ramshackle Portacabin on Salisbury Plain where we prepared training courses for the British Army in Afghanistan, where James himself had served as commander of a tank unit.
