Grant Gavin's book Thoughtonomy (page 10) raises interesting questions about South African identity. Cultural norms differ so vastly within our borders and we understand this as South Africans. However, it's necessary to very carefully map the culture you're communicating with. Different cultures can be as foreign to one another as visiting a new country. This raises challenging issues, yetis entirely rewarding when approached sensitively and with deeper insight.
