WHY DID HE DIE SO YOUNG?

It’s amazing what you can find online. I’d been wondering how to locate a 19th century American newspaper to see whether the death of a Dominick ‘Riboloti’, spotted in a transcript at Findmypast, is a simple typo for my 3x great-uncle Dominick Riboldi. Turns out all I need to do is Google ‘New York Herald old newspapers’ and here we are. Bingo.

Welcome to the LOC site

I ve landed on my feet at a US Library of Congress site (chroniclingamerica.loc.gov) which has digitised thousands and thousands of newspapers stretching back to 1690. And all for free!

From the transcript, I know we need the of 30 April 1871, so select the title, click on the calendar, – thumbnails of all 16 sheets of that
