THIS MONTH IN THE GARAGE...

Getting knee-deep in engine parts and oil isn’t everyone’s idea of scooter utopia, but it’s what I love. That moment, aged 16, when I realised the ‘inside of the engine’ on an air-cooled two-stroke was but a four-nut head removal away gave me all the encouragement I needed. Although that only led to the burning question: ‘What are all those holes in the cylinder for?’ From there, the quest for knowledge began, and 34 years later I’m still puzzling over those holes in the cylinder, only now the questions are more complex.
