Cage & Aviary Birds

I’m keeping it simple

AS I write this in early February, I am full of excitement with the start of the conditioning of the birds. As a novice, the idea of conditioning for breeding came as a surprise. But as soon as we pass the solstice, the days get longer. Outside, seeds that lay dormant begin to swell and shrubs to bud. New sources of food become available. As the birds take this up, with more light and warmth, they become fitter.

We are simply trying to replicate this in our birdrooms by offering softfood, condition seed, soak seed, greens, etc. My softfood mix is soak seed, eggfood, some boiled egg and peas. You walk into the birdroom in the morning
