“Winning Euro 2017 changedwomen’s football in the Netherlands”

Your father played for FC Twente and represented the Netherlands at youth level. How much of an influence was he on you when you were growing up?

Yeah, he still is actually. He played professional football but he got injured really young, so he had to stop. Now we talk about football every day, he can’t leave it. Sometimes it drives me crazy! We always analyse my games and he used to be my coach as well when I was younger. After a game, I want to know his opinion, because he knows me and what I can bring – or what I didn’t bring in the game. He’s had a big influence on my career definitely. Now I play closer to home, he’s here almost every game to watch me live.

Who did you look up to and who were your footballing idols growing up?

Ronaldinho was one of my idols
