Yes, We Remember

My great-great-great-grandmother’s name was Annie. She was born on May 20, 1866 and passed away on March 13, 1936. I know she had another name that her mother called her at birth, but we will probably never know what it was. I sometimes wonder if she herself knew or remembered it or if it was erased from her memory in some horrific way by being one of the first students at St. Mary’s Residential School where she was sent at the tender age of three. She was one of the first or wild little girls to reside at that place. When she was introduced back into the world at age 13, she was known to her family as Annie in her later years.
