Most of us dabbled in it at nursery school. After scribbling with crayons, collage was the next step in creative exploration. A simple technique comprising cutting and sticking, whether you used words, shiny sweet wrappers or magazine pages, the results were always satisfying, and an early introduction to recycling! The ultimate rainy day activity, its appeal didn’t stop there. Collage has infiltrated into our everyday lives from animation and advertising to home interiors, but where did it come from and how did it become such a celebrated form of art and design?
