MANY TYPES OF TAXES

The filing deadline for U.S. federal income tax returns is April 15. It’s not the only day or the only way people pay taxes. States, counties, and local governments collect taxes, too. Most Americans pay taxes every time they go shopping!

Income Tax

As the name suggests, the federal income tax is based on income. It’s not a flat tax, with one rate for everyone. Rather, the tax is progressive. That means that the tax advances or grows from low to high rates. It charges higher rates for higher incomes.
