The Minor Pentatonic and Blues scales are a goldmine for riffs and the basis for some of the most iconic songs in rock, such as: Led Zeppelin’s Black Dog and Whole Lotta Love, Pantera’s Cowboys From Hell, and Sunshine Of Your Love by Cream. In this lesson we have four riffs in E Minor and one based in F# Minor. We will use a variety of techniques to use the scale creatively such as syncopation, rhythmic displacement, building chords, octaves and string skips.
