Call for Applications: Elections for the EMA President and Vice President 2025-2027

Preliminary Presidential Voting Results Announced

The Election Committee is pleased to announce the results of the preliminary voting for EMA's upcoming presidential election, held over a 24-hour period on March 21 and March 22 via the official Community Portal. A total of 166 members completed the pre-assessment process. Following this, 141 individuals were invited to join the election group, and 112 members accepted the invitation, becoming eligible to vote. A total of 93 out of 112 eligible members participated in the vote, resulting in a voter turnout of 83%, reflecting strong engagement from the community.

Following the outcome of this preliminary round, Marvi Qazi and Ena Peeva have been officially confirmed as the two presidential candidates advancing to the next stage of the election process. The Election Committee extends its appreciation to all participating members for their active involvement and commitment to the democratic process.

Preliminary Voting for Presidential Candidates

Every registered and verified ordinary member of EMA who has submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI) should have received an invitation to join the closed group on the EMA Community Portal to cast their vote. The voting will begin at 10:00 AM (CET) on March 21 and will remain open for 24 hours, closing at 10:00 AM (CET) the following day. Members are encouraged to check their invitations and participate within the given timeframe.


Important: Varified members must accept the invitation request before 10:00 AM CET on March 21 to be eligible to vote.

Preliminary Debate for EMA Presidential Candidates – March 15

The Preliminary Debate for EMA Presidential Candidates will take place on March 15, 2025, from 14:00 to 16:00 CET. This important session will provide a platform for candidates to present their visions, address key issues, and engage with the EMA community ahead of the elections.

The debate will be hosted via CISCO WEBEX and live-streamed on EMA’s Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube channels. This allows EMA members worldwide to tune in and participate in real-time.

The audience will have the opportunity to ask questions through the live stream chat, and these will be moderated and addressed during the debate. This interactive format ensures that members can actively engage with the candidates and gain insights into their plans for EMA’s future.

Publication of Eligible Candidates for President and Vice President Positions

We have closed our call for EMA President and Vice President Applications and are ready to announce the successful candidates.

We received a total of six (6) applications, with four (4) for the President position and two (2) for the Vice President position. However, only five (5) applicants met the eligibility criteria and will proceed to the next phase of the Presidential and Vice-Presidential Elections. Preliminary voting for the Presidential Candidates will take place on March 17-22.

All ordinary EMA member should register* HERE to vote. The registration form closes on 14 March 2025 at 23:59 CET.

To help voters make an informed decision, online debates for Preliminary Election will be held on March 15 (14:00 CET Time). The final online debate will be held on April 5–6 and April 12–13. These sessions will provide an opportunity for the candidates to present their visions, answer questions, and engage with the EMA community.

The final debate and Q&A session will occur during the EMA General Assembly 2025, where the GA Attendees will vote to elect the President and Vice President of EMA for the term 2025-2027 on May 16-17.

All positions will be subject to voting regardless of the number of candidates, in accordance with our statutory procedures and confirmation of candidacy by the GA Attendees.

*NOTE: This form is designed to verify the eligibility of EMA members and ensure that all qualified members can participate in the voting process. To be eligible to vote, you must be an Ordinary Member of EMA with an active profile on the EMA Community Portal. After submitting your interest, and once the deadline has passed, the Erasmus+ Support Service Team will review submissions. Eligible members will then be added to a designated group on the EMA Community Portal in preparation for the first round of voting.

President

​

Position: President of EMA AISBL

Duration: 2 years (July 2025 - June 2027)
Location: Remote with semestrial physical board meetings and potential travel opportunities around the world
Type of Position: Voluntary Position 

​

The President is the primary representative of EMA and is hereby endowed with the power to represent EMA in all aspects. The EMA President is responsible for providing strategic leadership and coordinating all activities of the association. The EMA President is accountable to the whole EMA community. In consultation with the Management Board (and Advisory Board), the President sets short and long-term goals to ensure EMA is a mission-centred and outcome-oriented organisation.

​

The position is voluntary and includes many personal and professional development opportunities including external representations across the world.

Responsibilities

​

  • Lead EMA’s Management Board, its respective units and members and the Association as such - 

  • Develop and support the Management Board, to allow them to carry out their governance functions, whilst keeping everyone informed of significant developments and changes in the internal and external environment; 

  • Closely interact and work with the Vice-President to achieve the Association’s aims;

  • Liaise with the Chair of the Advisory Board to ensure the Advisory Board’s directives, policies, and resolutions are carried out; 

  • Support the clear vision that is shared with EMA members to provide unity within the organization and implement the community needs based on the ever-changing external circumstances;

  • To provide a platform to develop leaders and changemakers and commit to promoting the sustainable development goals pertaining to EMA’s aims and vision and the organizational culture;

  • Ensure effective external communications about the organization and its mission, priorities, importance, programs, and activities; 

  • Contribute towards EMA’s visibility to the commonality as well as the academic community; 

  • Champion the Association and advocate for its mission to internal and external stakeholders; 

  • Support and maintain beneficial relationships with donors, funders, supporters, collaborators, allies, vendors, and other stakeholders with high ethical standards.

Candidate Profile: 

Requirements

 

  • 2+ years of proven track record of volunteering/professional experience in the areas of organizational strategic planning processes, Higher Education, International Relations including EU, Organization Development, Youth and Capacity Building and other relevant fields; 

  • Long-term engagement and commitment with EMA; 

  • Experience with remote work;

  • Proven team management experience, strong organisational, and leadership skills;

  • Strong computer skills, especially with Google Suite and other online communication tools (e.g. Slack, Asana, or other office/project management tools);

  • Expectation and preparedness to attend several meetings per month. 

  • Able to devote sufficient time (approx. 8-10 hours/week) to the duties of the position.


Preferred 

 

  • Ability to learn quickly and have an innovative mindset; 

  • Structured, analytical, proactive, solution-oriented; 

  • Positive attitude, flexibility, and creativity; 

  • Excellent in communication and managing mailbox and promptly responding to emails and other communications; 

  • An advanced level of written and spoken proficiency in English;

  • Cross-cultural competence - cognitive, affective, and behavioural skills to lead a multicultural community.

Call for Applications - EMA Presidential Team (President & Vice President)

Position: Vice President of EMA AISBL

Vice President

​

The Vice President is responsible for providing administrative leadership and coordinating administrative and supportive activities of EMA. The EMA Vice President reports to the President. In consultation with the Management Board (and Advisory Board), the Vice-President sets short and long-term goals for administrative and support units to ensure the EMA is mission-centred and outcome-oriented.

​

The position is voluntary and includes many personal and professional development opportunities including external representations across the world.


Responsibilities 

 

  • In collaboration with the President, lead the EMA’s Management Board, its respective units and members and the Association as such; 

  • Develop and support the Management Board, to allow them to carry out their governance functions, whilst keeping everyone informed of significant developments and changes in the internal and external environment; 

  • Closely interact and work with the President to achieve the Association’s aims, and ensure overall focus lines and projects; 

  • Develop, implement, monitor and assess standard operating procedures and guidelines documents; 

  • Supervise the creation of necessary legal internal documentation; 

  • Monitor and assess sound and compliant financial management practices (including budgeting, and fundraising practices); 

  • Contribute towards the development of EMA’s volunteers; 

  • Support the organisational culture within the Association for the betterment of our members and the society in general;

  • Develop and maintain beneficial relationships with donors, funders, supporters, collaborators, allies, vendors, and other stakeholders with high ethical standards; 

  • Support effective external communications about the organisation and its mission, priorities, importance, programs, and activities. 

 

Candidate Profile Requirements 

 

  • 2+ years of proven track record of volunteering/professional experience in the areas of organizational administrative and support activities planning processes, Volunteer Management, Project Management, Human Resource Management, Administrative Management, International Relations including EU, Organization Development, and other relevant fields.
