Unforgotten's Charlie Condou has been confirmed to guest star in a new episode of Doctor Who.

The star, who has also appeared in Coronation Street and Midsomer Murders, has joined the next season in an "exciting new escapade" – though details on his character remain under wraps for now.

"I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining the Whoniverse, having been a fan for so long, and finally getting a chance to work with the legend that is Russell T Davies!" Condou said.
