Recent sentencings: March 27, 2025

Six individuals were recently sentenced in criminal cases previously reported on by The Globe.

WORTHINGTON — Six individuals were recently sentenced in criminal cases previously reported on by The Globe. They include:

  • Joshua Stirn , 40, of Slayton, was sentenced March 10 in Murray County Fifth District Court for storing drugs in the presence of children, a felony, following a February 2024 incident. Two other charges including receiving stolen property and possession of a controlled substance were dismissed. According to the court document, Stirn was sentenced to 15 months in a correctional facility, which is stayed for three years. He will serve 45 days of jail, with credit for three days served, and placed on supervised probation for three years. He was also ordered to pay $660 in court fees. 
  • Jory Embacher , 37, of New Ulm, was sentenced March 10 in Murray County Fifth District Court for fourth degree burglary following a September 2024 incident. According to the court document, Embacher was sentenced to 364 days in jail, 274 of which were stayed for two years. Embacher has credit for 60 days already served and will be on supervised probation for two years. He was also fined $460. 
  • Dawson Vandertop , 19, of Edgerton, was sentenced March 18 in Pipestone County Fifth District Court on one count of fifth degree criminal sexual conduct following an August 2024 incident. According to the court document, Vandertop was sentenced to two years of supervised probation. This sentence acts as a stay of adjudication, so if completed successfully, the case will be dismissed. 
  • Randolph Marshall , 64, of Steen, was sentenced March 19 in Rock County Fifth District Court for disorderly conduct following a September 2024 incident. According to the court document, two other charges including domestic abuse by strangulation and domestic assault were dismissed. Marshall was sentenced to one year of supervised probation and eight days in jail, with credit for eight days served. He was also charged $245 in court fees. 
  • Cody Halvorson , 22, of Mountain Lake, was sentenced March 24 in Cottonwood County Fifth District Court for domestic assault following a January incident. According to the document, an additional charge of domestic assault by strangulation was dismissed. Halvorson was sentenced to 90 days in jail, with credit for 71 days already served. He was also fined $155. 
  • Antonio Perez , 21, of Fulda, was sentenced March 26 in Murray County Fifth District Court for domestic assault following a September 2024 incident. According to the court document, Perez was sentenced to 21 months in a correctional facility, which is stayed for five years. He was also sentenced to 45 days in jail and will be on supervised probation for five years. Perez was ordered to pay $1,160 in court fees.
