Nena Daconte is a Spanish pop/rock band created and led by singer and songwriter Mai Meneses.
Over the years, has obtained success by topping the national charts with number 1 hits and winning, among other recognitions, a “Premio Ondas” in 2008.
All the melodies and lyrics are original compositions by Mai, who uses both the guitar and piano to compose.
In 2005, Mai self-edited and released her first album, “He perdido los zapatos”, incorporating Kim Fanlo as arranger and producer. Nena Daconte signes with Universal Music Spain. “Idiota”, the first single, was produced by Carlos Jean In 2006, enters the Spanish Musical Billboard with, “En qué estrella estará”.
In 2008, Nena Daconte releases its second album, “Retales de Carnaval”. “Tenía tanto que darte” became an instant hit, topping the Spanish Musical Billboard as number one for several weeks.
“Una mosca en el cristal”, its third album, 2010, and produced by Alejo Stivel. Mai desired to expand her musical horizon, seeking new sounds beyond the guitars.
For her fourth album, “Solo muerdo por ti”, 2012, Mai worked along with producers Javibu Carretero and Manuel Colmenero (Sonobox), adding a darker and more prominent guitar sound for the tracks. The first single, “Disparé”, reaches a remarkable success.
In 2018, Nena Daconte came back to well-known producer Paco Salazar, who in 2010 produced her song “I just call you girl” and records and EP titled “Suerte”, licensed by BMG.
