"Breathing" feat. Daniele Sorrentino is out now!
Nicolas and Philipp grew up in a musical family and both learned to play the violin and piano themselves as children. Their enthusiasm for electronic music began in 2014 when the duo was on holiday and discovered songs by Martin Garrix and Hardwell. As a result, they received the appropriate equipment from their parents and started djing. The first gig under the name The Waves took place in 2016 at a club called PPC in their hometown Graz. This was followed by gigs at other events in Austria, including Graz, Vienna, Carinthia and Burgenland.
In 2018, the duo released their first official song called Lock Up on the label DMN Family. This was followed by their most popular single called "All I Want" at the end of the same year, which they released together with New York City rapper Drama B on Magic Music. The single reached over 1 million streams on all streaming platforms. That same year, the duo signed a contract with the talent and artist agency Flare Talents.
In 2020, the duo released the next single called Knockin on the Dutch bass house label Diverge Records, which also enjoyed great success. The duo received support from DJs such as Tungevaag, Sikdope, Eliminate, Modestep and Gerald Le Funk. This was followed by the next collaboration called "Insane?", which they released together with singer Aegnes.
In 2021, The Waves released the single "Hold On" with Starmania contestant Fred Owusu. Together with their talent and artist agency Flare Talents, the duo produced their first official music video. The single reached number 40 in the iTunes Austria Pop Chart and number 65 in the iTunes Austria All Genres Charts, was played several times on the radio and was also allowed to be performed live in the final of the Austrian TV program Starmania21!
2022 saw the next collaboration with Italian singer Daniele Sorrentino called "Breathing". The music magazine WeRaveYou describes Breathing as a "good mood song" and a "certified hit". In August, The Waves played as support alongside superstar DJs like Nicky Romero, Felix Jaehn and Topic at the Highlight Summerclub Festival in the Westfalenhalle in Dortmund.
One thing is for sure, this is only the beginning of a great journey for The Waves.
