countertenor, baryton, composer
Samuel Cattiau discovers his voice with a high and precise range during his studies in Arts-Applied School in France. He works vocal technique, stage presence and Baroque music to present his first vocal trio concerts. He studied at music conservatory in France and then with other professionals of voice the lyrical repertoire.
He developed a tone of voice over several octaves, from baritone to countertenor. After having presented for several years pieces and works of baroque operas (C. Monteverdi, J. Dowland, H. Purcell, G.F. Haendel, ...), he presents Lux Aeterna, a program of sacred music (Preview at Abbey of Cluny, France) and he widens his register to interdisciplinary meetings.
Inspired by ancient music texts, he developed the Resonance musical project with guitarist and composer Quentin Dujardin, which is presented in France and abroad in international festivals. His research work is based on both "written" music and oral transmission and fits in places of remarkable architecture and acoustics.
In 2016, he becomes "musician ambassador" for the International Yehudi Menuhin Foundation.
In 2018 he invites other musicians (Léo Ullmann, violin - Doron David Sherwin, cornett - Bijan Chemirani, percussions) to join the extraordinary musical adventure Resonance for a new album: Illuminations.
