Loco Escrito’s musical success story began in 2017 with Sin Ti, his first single which went platinum. Two more smash hits followed in 2018 with the double-platinum Adiós and platinum Mi Culpa. After being voted Best Swiss Act at the MTV EMAs, Loco Escrito once again hit the headlines on 16 February 2019 when Adiós was named Best Hit at the Swiss Music Awards. At the end of April the Latin star released Punto, which became his fourth platinum single in a row. The MTV EMA nomination was followed by a further international nomination in September 2019, as he was nominated for the LUKAS Award in the European Urban Act of the Year section. The LUKAS Awards are presented to exceptionally talented Europe-based Latin musicians, dancers, artists and sports stars.
The journey to this point has not always been easy, however. Born Nicolas Herzig 1990 in Medellín, Colombia, Loco Escrito arrived in Switzerland as a six-month old and grew up near Zurich. He had a go at the drums at primary school and started writing lyrics and rapping in Spanish at the age of ten. “I am equally comfortable in German and Spanish, and make mistakes in both,” laughs Nicolas. “Spanish is the language of my heart, in which I can express my feelings.” Emotion is at the core of this passionate performer, singer and composer’s music. On his latest hit album Estoy Bien he deals with a difficult and defining period in his life. “I’m doing well,” is the satisfied assessment of the artist’s last few years.
