Shane Lowry snaps at Rory McIlroy Masters question and storms off - 'I'm just going to leave'
The Irishman wasn't happy after being quizzed on close pal McIlroy's sensational start at Augusta
Peeved Shane Lowry stormed off from his post-round interviews at the Masters after being quizzed on Rory McIlroy's red-hot start.
The Irishman endured a disappointing Saturday at Augusta, finishing with bogeys on the last two holes for a 72 that leaves him tied with Justin Rose.
Meanwhile, close pal McIlroy has one hand on the elusive Green Jacket after a historic third-round start moved him closer to completing his Grand Slam.
The world No2 stormed into a two-shot lead heading into the final day after remarkably pencilling SIX successive threes.
But Lowry was in no mood to talk about McIlroy's record-breaking display as one journalist rubbed him up the wrong way.
Asked if he found himself looking back at the four-time Major winner, Lowry snapped: "No. No, I'm not going to stand here and talk about Rory for 10 minutes. I'm trying to win the tournament, as well.
"I know that's what y'all want me to talk about, but I've just had a s*** finish, I've got a chance to win the Masters tomorrow, and I'm going to go hit some balls."
Lowry's frustrations then boiled over as he abruptly cut short his post-round mixed zone interviews.
He fizzed: "We talk about Collin Morikawa a few weeks ago. I think we need time. I think I need a half an hour now to sit there and gather my thoughts.
"I can't be coming to talk to you guys straight away. It shouldn't be happening. I don't agree with it.
"Tennis players have to talk to the media, but they have a half an hour or hour before they have to do it.
"I feel like we should have the same thing. That's how I feel. I'm probably going to say something stupid.
"I probably already have said something stupid because I'm p****d off right now. I'm just going to leave, okay?"
