Rarely do people in the U.S. hear much about Canadian college football, but one of its better players this season is a Phoebus High graduate. Linebacker Peyton Ryder of the York University Lions, listed at 5-foot-9 and 210 pounds, was an Ontario University Athletics second-team selection. He twice earned York’s Male Athlete of the Week, and in the season’s fifth week, he led his team to a 19-17 victory over the Toronto Varsity Blues by compiling a season-best 12.5 tackles and an interception.
