Ahsanul Islam (Titu) is a successful figure in the capital market and insurance business. He currently serves as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Tangail-6 (Nagarpur-Delduar), having been nominated by the Bangladesh Awami League with the boat symbol in the 12th National Parliamentary Election.

Over the past five years, Titu, a dynamic young politician, has dedicated himself to significant development work in the area, garnering considerable popularity. His father, Mokbul Hossain, was an active politician and Member of Parliament for the Awami League. Inspired by his father, Titu entered politics as a young social worker. Upon receiving the Awami League's nomination in 2018, he declared, “Business is my profession, and politics is my passion. If elected, I will prioritise politics and serve the people of the area.”

In the 2018 election, Titu became an MP, and he shifted his focus from business to politics. Despite having a reputable 25-year career in insurance and share trading, he is once again vying for a political role.

Throughout his 25-year business career, Titu has held prominent positions, including President of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Founder President of the DSE Brokers Association of Bangladesh (DBA). Additionally, he served as the Vice-President of the Bangladesh Insurance Association (BIA).

Before venturing into politics, Titu served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sandhani Life Insurance Co. Ltd, a private life insurance company. In 1995, he took on the role of Managing Director of Mona Financial Consultancy and Securities.

Ahsanul Islam Titu, born on December 11, 1969, in Nayapara village, Nagarpur upazila, Tangail district, is the son of Mokbul Hossain and Golam Fatema Tahera Khanam. His wife's name is Arya Islam.

Titu completed his secondary education at Dhaka Residential Model and higher secondary education at Dhaka College. He obtained a BBA degree from Assumption University in Bangkok and an MBA degree from Pittsburg State University, USA.

After completing his education, Titu initiated his business in 1993, obtaining membership at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE). He served as the President of DSE from 2013 to 2014 and currently holds the position of Secretary of Industry and Commerce Affairs at the Tangail District Branch of the Bangladesh Awami League.

Ahsanul Islam said, “Business is my profession, and politics is my passion. For 15 years, I have been directly serving at the thana and district levels of Awami League. So, I did not come into politics as a businessman. Both my parents did BCL politics. I engaged in politics at Dhaka College but never highlighted it because the recognition is greater as a business leader. However, the idea that I am nominated as a business leader is also not correct.”

He added, “I have been in business for 25 years, and nothing is lacking. I don't have to earn my bread and butter from politics and business. I was involved with various organisations. I was the founder president of the DSE Brokers Association (DBA) and served as Vice President of BIA. Currently, I am not associated with any organisation. While people often engage in both politics and business, I entered politics after establishing myself in business. I have decided not to return to business in the future.”

“If elected, I will not be associated with any business organisation. Politics means I will engage in it as a pure political person, working for the people and contributing in the parliament. Since my party has nominated me, I am available 24 hours a day for any party work. I will not pursue business any longer,” he mentioned.

The MP also said, “My children have graduated from the university, and all my businesses are well-established. I have not undertaken any new projects in the last 25 years. Entrepreneurs need new initiatives for motivation. These businesses are like my children, managed by professionals who will take them forward. Moreover, all my companies are public limited, and they will operate by hiring professionals.”
