Alison Hammond broke down in tears after she spoke about her toyboy boyfriend on Wednesday's episode of This Morning.

The presenter, 49, joined Cat Deeley, 48, as they spoke about World Kindness Day to author Rosie Nixon.

During the segment, the Bake Off star became emotional as they chatted about making people smile as viewers called into the studio.

One caller, named Abigail, opened up about her father's  deteriorating eyesight,  which will ultimately mean that he won't see her in a wedding dress.

Abigail then revealed a dress maker in her local area, who owns a bridal shop, let the pair visit her store to try some on.

As Alison read out how they will always have that memory, her voice started to break.

She said: 'This is making me emotional!' as she wiped away a tear from her cheek.

The emotional display came after she mentioned her lover David Putman, 23, while talking to another caller.

A woman, named Anita, called to tell Alison how happy she had made her feel while they were on a train together earlier in the year.

Anita said: 'Alison Hammond you are a wonderful person who made a lady feel so special.

'My husband was the guard, I had been invited on because I'd just finished chemotherapy and radiotherapy.'

Alison added: 'I remember you, you came into my cabin area!.'

The caller carried on: 'You never rushed me out, you asked me everything I'd gone through, how much weight I'd lost.

'Alison, I know you're from the Midlands, we're such special people.

'We've always got a smile and a kind word. I'm like yourself, I'm kind, but sometimes you do get hurt being kind.

'But you, Alison, I can't tell you what you did that day.'

At the end of the call Alison confessed that Anita had not mentioned that when she saw her she was with her boyfriend.

Alison confessed: 'Anita, whats lovely about you, you've haven't mentioned who I was with.

'That was my very first date with my boyfriend. You met my boyfriend before anybody else knew about it!'

Anita confirmed: 'He's so tall!'

Alison has opted to keep her relation with David mostly private as she rarely attends events or posts pictures of them on social media.

In August, Alison was forced to shut down rumours that she is engaged.

She shut down claims that she was set to marry to her Russian masseuse partner David, who is 23 years her junior, live on This Morning back in May after they went Instagram official.

At the time, she was seen wearing a huge diamond ring on her wedding finger, but insisted it was just a cheap one from Primark as she silenced the gossip.

Speaking to Woman Magazine in June, in a joint interview with Dermot O'Leary, Alison joked her love life had nothing on her relationship with her co-host.

Referring to their three-year stint hosting This Morning together, she laughed: 'It's the longest relationship I've ever been in!'

Dermot added: 'It does feel like those three years have gone so quickly, but at the same time, like we've been together forever!'

The TV personality sparked engagement rumours when she was spotted wearing a giant diamond ring on her ring finger during an episode of This Morning.

Alison began dating the Russian masseur after she booked him for a £150 massage and the pair reportedly hit it off and is said to be 'happier than ever' with David following a 'turbulent love life'.

During the episode, Alison and Dermot O'Leary sat down for the showbiz headlines, and she took a look at her iPad and exclaimed: 'Oh my god apparently I am engaged?!'

Squashing the rumours she confirmed David is yet to pop the question as she explained she had put her ring on the wrong finger.

'Oh I have put this on the wrong finger,' she said shocked, 'Let me swap it over to stop these rumours.'

While the ring looked rather flashy, the presenter insisted it was just a cheap one from Primark as she was taken aback by the engagement rumours.

Slightly flustered, she added: 'It is just a cheap ring from Primark. It's nice, isn't it?! Let's swap it over as we don't want those rumours.'

Seeing the funny side she laughed alongside Dermot and Will Best, as Will joked he had been planning on popping the question.

The couple's relationship was revealed in April and their age gap is said to have caused an issue with David's mother.

A source told The Sun: 'David is happy with his relationship so anything his mum says isn't going to affect him.

'She's uncomfortable that her son is with someone who has so much more financial power than him. Olga's traditional values don't sit well with their relationship.

'She's told him in no uncertain terms that he must end it. Olga raised her children in the Orthodox Church. This kind of relationship doesn't fit her beliefs. She calls her son almost every day and tells him how unhappy she is.'

This Morning airs Monday to Friday on ITV from 10am.
