Re-live Mail Sport's live blog of transfer deadline day as Premier League clubs entered the last-chance saloon to complete any deals.

The transfer window is over

That, one and all, is that.

A month and a bit of dealings have been completed - pretty much. We're still waiting on a few announcements...

Tyrell Malacia to PSV, Willian to Fulham and Joao Felix to AC Milan are all expected to be announced tomorrow.

Elsewhere, Aston Villa have until 1am to get their move for Axel Disasi over the line, while we're still awaiting clarity on Mathis Amougou to Chelsea and Marshall Munetsi to Wolves.

I'm also hearing from Simon Jones that West Brom have put a deal sheet in to sign Adam Armstrong from Southampton.

Nonetheless, this live blog is over. Thanks for your company, it's been quite the journey, and we'll go again in the summer.

Keep an eye on the site for all the latest, and for clarity on if any of those late late deals go through.

I'm off to bed. Catch you later!

Man City's busy window

Hardly ever do we see Man City spend in January. It's pretty much unheard of. But not this month.

It appeared that they moved their summer planning forward, making four signings in total.

  • Claudio Echeverri (River Plate, £12.5m - agreed in 2024)
  • Abdukodir Khusanov (Lens, £33.5m)
  • Vitor Reis (Palmeiras, £29.6m)
  • Omar Marmoush (Eintracht Frankfurt, £59m)
  • Nico Gonzalez (Porto, £50m)

Southampton announce Udoh move

Victor Udoh has joined Southampton at the final hour.

The 20-year-old has put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half-year deal. He will 'initially' join the Under-21s side, the club have said.

After international clearance is approved, he will join up with the Saints.

00:17

Everton CONFIRM Alcaraz

Finally!

Everton have confirmed the signing of Carlos Alcaraz from Flamengo.

The former Southampton man joins on loan for the rest of the season, with an option to buy.

Big move for the Toffees.

00:11

Blackburn move late

A post-deadine double swoop for Blackburn, who have strengthened their attacking options with moves for Emmanuel Dennis and Cauley Woodrow.

They are fifth in the Championship.

00:05

Wolves sign Nasser Djiga

Wolves have announced the first post-deadine.

Defender Nasser Djiga signs for £10million from Red Star Belgrade. Long-term deal.

Vitor Pereira gets his man. And we think Marshall Munetsi will be joining too.

00:01

We pass 12am

We have passed 12am, which was the deadline for the deal sheet transfers for European deals.

We should have updates on some deals very soon. The domestic deadline is 1am.

23:55

City winger could head to Forest

Nottingham Forest moved late to agree a loan deal for Manchester City winger Joel Ndala.
The 18-year-old has been on loan at PSV. Forest have a buy option of £4million plus a 20per cent sell-on.

23:50

Sides set for the rest of the campaign

Just a few minutes left now until the deadline hits for deal sheets that went in for European transfers. And we still await the announcements of many.

Could be a chaotic few minutes. But still we wait.

Still, what a great transfer window. Some really surprising deals, from Rashford, to Tel, to Manchester City going mental in January.

It sets up a really exciting end to the season.

23:43

Chelsea star departs

We're waiting on news of Axel Disasi, but there's another Cheslea departure to report with Harvey Vale exiting Stamford Bridge.

The 21-year-old, who is an England Under-20 international, has penned a permanent deal at Loftus Road.

He almost left in the summer. Now he has.

23:37

The wait goes on...

Right then. I make it a few that we are waiting on - Disasi, Malacia, Willian, Felix, Amougbou, Alcaraz.

Malacia and Willian will probably be tomorrow. We also think Felix will be announced tomorrow. But the other three, we are having to wait and see.

A couple of announcements from Wolves too maybe.

23:30

Schlupp joins Celtic

Another one that was pushed through late - Jeffrey Schlupp has joined Celtic.

Loan deal until the end of the season. A former Premier League winner, of course.

It's likely he will fill in at left back, where Celtic have been struggling for options.

23:25

Chilwell: 'Crystal Palace are going in the right direction'

Ben Chilwell, Crystal Palace:

I'm very excited to be here. Crystal Palace are a club that's going in a great direction.
You look at the last few months, with the results and how the team's playing, and it was a no-brainer to make the decision to come here.

23:22

Gonzalez: 'There isn't a footballer who wouldn't want to be part of this'

Nicolas Gonzalez, Man City:

This is the perfect opportunity for me at this stage of my career.
I am 23 and I want to test myself in England. There’s no better club than Manchester City for me to do that.
Look at the squad they have here… it’s unbelievable, full of world-class players. There isn’t a footballer in the world who would not want to be part of this setup.
I know the reputation Pep has and I cannot wait to work with him. In fact, I am honoured he wants me to play in his team.
I am truly excited. I just want to meet my teammates, and the staff here and then I want to play in front of the City fans.

23:18

Crystal Palace confirm Chilwell move

Ben Chilwell is about to play football again.

Exiled by Chelsea, he has played just 45 minutes of competitive football this season.

But now he has joined Crystal Palace on loan. He will be battling Tyrick Mitchell, but is set for plenty of minutes at Palace.

23:16

'Deal sheet in for Alcaraz'

The deal sheet is in for Carlos Alcaraz to Everton. We have been sure of the move all day and it's still looking likely it will happen.
A bit nervy now, but still expecting everything to go through.
23:11

Tottenham announce Tel

It's done. The biggest sage of the window is done.

It was Bayern. It was Spurs. It was United, Chelsea, about a million other sides. But now it's Tottenham again.

Spurs have announced the loan signing of Mathys Tel on loan from Bayern unitl the end of the season. In the summer, there is an option to buy, believed to be in the region of £50m.

He will wear the No 11 shirt.

Spurs have their man. Big move.

23:10

Two-hour extensions

As I mentioned earlier, clubs can earn two-hour extensions for domestic transfers.

That requires a deal sheet, signed by all necessary clubs and parties to get an extension until 1am. It's 12am for domestic transfers.

So we are still waiting on the likes of Tel...

23:06

Michy Batshuayi moves on

A Premier League icon, for one reason or another.

Michy Batshuayi, once of the likes of Chelsea and Palace, moved onto Frankfurt before the closure of the window.

He joined from Galatasaray - contract until 2027.

23:00

THE TRANSFER WINDOW CLOSES

That's your lot.

Over a month of work, and some deals left to the last-minute. But the transfer window is over for another winter.

More announcements to come, potentially. Extension requests could come in.

23:00

Man City CONFIRM Gonzalez signing

Nico Gonzalez has joined Manchester City in a four-and-a-half-year deal.

City finally have their midfield solution after months of struggling in Rodri's absence.

The 23-year-old become's City's fourth signing of the window.

22:55

Bournemouth make late move

Out of nowhere, really, Bournemouth have signed an attacker.

It's one for the future, with Eli Junior Kroupi joining the Cherries from Lorient in France.

He will head back across the channel for the rest of the season on loan.

22:51

Bazunu leaves Southampton

Southampton goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu, who was recently dealing with a long-term injury, has joined Standard Liege on loan in Belgium.

Aaron Ramsdale is the Saints' No 1. Bazunu looking for first team football.

22:49

Are you happy with your side's business?

We're pretty much there, folks.

Are you happy with your side's business? Did they do any? Do they potentially still have some to do?

Let us know in the comments.

22:43

Clubs hold onto key players

Teams hold onto their stars.

Sometimes signing players can be just as important as keeping hold of your best.

Aston Villa did it with Watkins. Wolves with Cunha. Brentford with Wissa. Crystal Palace Guehi.

What the summer holds, time will tell. But that's important for now.

22:34

London announcements pending

We have good reason to believe that both Mathis Amougou and Mathys Tel have signed their contracts at Chelsea and Tottenham respecitvely.

SIMON JONES: Tottenham have agreed deal to sign Tel from Bayern Munich on loan with an option to buy in the summer at £46million on a six-year contract.

Announcements coming soon, we believe. Gonzalez, too - Porto are about to draw 2-2.

22:32

Amorim refuses to panic buy

We're still waiting in anticipation of a few moves being completed. There will, however, be no more signings at Manchester United.

Ruben Amroim has refused to panic buy. That's the bottom line. But why?

Have a read from Chris Wheeler below.

22:25

Malacia 'lands in the Netherlands'

Tyrell Malacia, of course in talks to join PSV, has reportedly landed in the Netherlands.

We're not expecting an announcement on that today, because the Dutch window closes tomorrow. But with Dorku signing over the weekend, the green light has been given for that one to be completed.

Expect an announcement at some point on Tuesday.

Porto playing NOW

This could be the hold up.

Porto, who Gonzalez currently plays for, are playing as we speak.

There's about 20 minutes left of their clash with Rio Ave. It's nigh-on impossible that there's an announcement before that game finishef.

Imagine conceding a last-minute winner and your best player leaves at the same time.

Oh dear - they've just gone 2-1 down.

22:12

'Gonzalez move going in the right direction'

It’s turning into a late night up here in Manchester. Nico Gonzalez’s switch to Manchester City has yet to be 100 per cent sorted but I’m assured it is moving in the right direction.
Having a new central midfielder in, ready to ahead of some mammoth games over the next month, would be absolutely huge for Pep Guardiola.
22:06

Rob Holding joins Sheffield United

Rob Holding's loan move to Sheffield United has been completed.

He joined Palace 18ish months ago from Arsenal, but has barely had a kick.

Maybe he will in the Championship. Feels like he never really recovered from when he was William Saliba's deputy.

22:00

One hour to go

This is your one hour warning...

Teams have 60 minutes to get deals done. Unless they request extensions...

Panic stations? Maybe.

21:52

'A lot of talk about Luis Guilherme's future'

There was much talk during the transfer window about the future of West Ham winger Luis Guilherme.
The 18-year-old signed for £25.5m in the summer, hasn’t started a single Premier League game and reportedly could have left for half the price eight months later with Shakhtar Donetsk tabling a bid of £12m that was rejected. Porto also made an enquiry for Guilherme but no formal offer came.
If anything summed up the chaotic mess of the Hammers’ £130m summer transfer fee, it was that.
Well, he’s just come on for West Ham at Stamford Bridge so doesn’t look he’ll be going anywhere by 11pm!

West Ham target moves

News from Europe, with Andre Silva, once of Milan and Porto, joining Werder Bremen on loan from RB Leipzig.

There were reports he would be heading to West Ham, but they have instead signed Evan Ferguson of course.

Ipswich sign Boniface

Somto Boniface, who has represented England at a number of age groups, has left Chelsea to join Ipswich.

He hasn't yet played for Chelsea, and is expected to be involved in Ipswich's youth team too.

21:36

Liverpool midfielder heading out on loan

I didn't think I'd be mentioning my team Gillingham tonight, but we are about to sign someone important!

That someone is Dominic Corness, who plays for Liverpool's Under-21s.

He will move to Priestfield on a deal until the end of the season following a spell in the Swiss Super League.

21:32

CONFIRMED: Ipswich sign Palmer

Ipswich have completed the signing of Alex Palmer from West Brom.

'I felt it was the right time,' he says.

With Muric out of form and Walton injured, I'm sure he'll be their new No 1 for the foreseeable.

21:28

Joao Felix arrives in Milan

No rush, Joao...

Felix is cutting a cool figure after landing in Milan to join AC on loan from Chelsea.

He has been a bit all over the place in recent times, with his move to the Blues in the summer only coming about so Atletico could sign Conor Gallagher.

Really hope he kicks on in Italy.

21:22

'No shiny forward for Arsenal'

Bar any shock development, no shiny new forward is expected to be joining Arsenal in this transfer window.
It’s a blow for their supporters. There was an expectation that the north London club would bring in a player from abroad on loan but that has so far not transpired.
The squad does look short up top and the hierarchy know so, hence why since Gabriel Jesus’ injury earlier in January they have been on the hunt for a striker.
It does not bode well for the Gunners and makes the gap between now and Bukayo Saka’s return all the more vulnerable for them.
21:16

One out for Forest?

One in equals one out.

Reports are suggesting that Emmanuel Dennis, who has been pretty much exiled from Forest this season, is heading to Blackburn.

Any Fantasy Premier League players out there? If you know, you know.

21:15

One in for Forest

They just can't help themselves...

I suppose we can let them off given the season they are having. Nottingham Forest have compelted the signing of Tyler Bindon from Reading.

The New Zealander will return to Reading on loan for the rest of the season.

21:08

Dawson: 'Maybe he was sounding everything out'

Michael Dawson, former Tottenham defender, Sky Sports:

It has been a very interesting few days. It looked like he had rejected the chance to go to Spurs. Maybe he was sounding eveything out, he is still only 19.
It is a great fit for bothaprties. He needs game time and where Spurs are at now, anywhere across the front three, he can play in any of those positions, and hopefully it will be good for Spurs.

'Armstrong going on loan'

Harrison Armstrong has signed a new three-and-a-half-year deal at Everton before joining Derby on loan for the rest of the season.
The 18-year-old midfielder has shown impressive progress this season, making his debut last year, and will now head out for his first loan move.
20:57

'Option to buy' Tel

There are reports that Tottenham's move to sign Tel WILL include a buy option.

That's pretty big. A successful season could lead to a great purchase in the summer.

Slightly odd considering he didn't want to go thee a few days ago, but there we go.

MUNICH, GERMANY - JANUARY 29: Mathys Tel of FC Bayern München plays the ball during the UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD8 match between FC Bayern München and SK Slovan Bratislava at Football Arena Munich on January 29, 2025 in Munich, Germany. 20:53

What we're waiting on

We're coming up to the two-hour mark until the deadline passes.

Much has been completed, but there's also much that we're expecting to be done.

  • Mathys Tel is in London to join Tottenham on loan
  • Nico Gonzalez has been having a medical in Portugal ahead of a move to Manchester City
  • PSV are in talks to take Tyrell Malacia on loan
  • Jeffrey Schlupp is set to join Celtic on loan
  • AC Milan have agreed to take Joao Felix on a temportary basis
20:47

'A lack of loan moves in Arsenal's academy'

An overlooked aspect at Arsenal is the lack of loan moves sorted for their academy prospects.
Maldini Kacurri is joining Bromley on loan, but that is it. No more of Arsenal’s academy players are heading out. The likes of Ismail Kabia and Charles Sagoe Jnr could have really done with a stint elsewhere for their development.
Particularly in the case of Sagoe Jnr, who returned from an underwhelming spell at Shrewsbury last month.
With the Gunners out of the FA Cup, first-team game time will likely be non-existent for these youngsters.

Patrick Dorgu, MUTV:

It's been really quick and I'm really happy eveyrhting has been going so far, hopefly it can continue this way.
I saw Ruben before I came here. It was nice. We have a great team and it is very exciting to see the new project with Ruben.
I'm going to bring a lot of intensity on the pitch, and a lot of energy and running.

Chukwuemeka leaves Chelsea

One man who is leaving Chelsea, however, is Carney Chukwuemeka.

The midfielder has moved on loan to Borussia Dortmund until the end of the season. It's never really worked out for him at the Blues - but now he will have the chance to show his stuff in Germany. They got the move over the line.

'He will now continue his development in the Bundesliga with Dortmund and we look forward to supporting Carney during his loan,' Chelsea say.

More on Asensio

Aston Villa have confirmed that Asensio has joined on loan from PSG until the end of the season.

With 38 caps for Spain, he is comfortable in pretty much any forward area, but plays best behiind the striker.

Villa have some serious depth now. They have Watkins, Rashford, Asensio, Malen, Rogers, Bailey, Tielemans, Ramsey...

Seriously impressive stuff.

19:40

When is the deadline across Europe?

The windows, believe it or not, close at different times across Europe:

  • Germany: Closed (7pm)
  • France: 10pm
  • England: 11pm
  • Spain: 11pm
  • Italy: 11pm

All times GMT. Makes so much sense. But 11pm is essentially the target we are looking at for the most part.

Tottenham suffer 'injury blow'

Neville: 'It is a sad thing'

Gary Neville, Sky Sports:

I think it was needed after the comments of the manger, there was no way back. He would have wanted to relaunch his career.
He is going to a very good team, currently better than Man United. He is going to work under a manager who will give him real insturction, he needs that. He needs that detail in his game.
It looks like it will be difficult for a way back under Ruben Amorim. But don't rule anything out, if he tears it up at Aston Villa, it could happen, but the ideal situation is he goes and thrives. It is a sad thing for me. He has the talent to play for United.

Aston Villa complete Asensio signing

And there he is!

Signed, sealed, delivered.

Marco Asnesio is an Aston Villa player. Unai Emery has certainly boosted his attack this winter.

19:02

'Not far off the white smoke'

Not far off the white smoke now for Marco Asensio and Aston Villa. The Spanish forward is due to move to Villa Park on loan until the end of the season.
What is really interesting now is whether the club can bring in the centre back that Unai Emery said was his priority just last week.
19:02

Neuer: 'I'm still hungry'

Manuel Neuer, Bayern Munich, after signing his new contract:

I really enjoy playing football and want to remain a Bayern player. I’m still hungry and am looking forward to another year at this special club.

18:58

Why Man United didn't sign a striker

Business done then at Manchester United, it seems. Three in, but no striker.

Hojlund and Zirkzee have been struggling. Mainoo played there at the weekend. What's going on?

Well, we can tell you why. But you'll have to click below to find out.

18:53

Chelsea vs West Ham tonight

Chelsea are in action tonight and, as Kieran mentioned, Nkunku is in the side.

Well, he's on the bench. He'll be staying at the club. Alex Disasi is not involved as he continues to look for a move away.

Team news has just dropped - and there's a big call in goal for Chelsea - with kick off set for 8pm.

Click below to follow live with Harry Bamforth - or feel free to stay here with me.

18:44

McAteer offer rejected

Leicester's deadline day has been more focused on outgoings rather than incomings - a bit bizarre considering the position they're in, but as you were.

Talks over a swap between Conor Coady and Craig Dawson with Wolves died out, while a loan offer from Sunderland to take Kasey McAteer for the rest of the season has been rejected.

He's made 15 appearances for the Foxes this season, mostly from the bench.

18:40

Nkunku in the Chelsea squad

Christopher Nkunku had been linked with a move away from Chelsea this window, with Bayern Munich in particular interested.

But a move never materialised, and he is in the squad for tonight's game against West Ham.

A big keep for Chelsea, I'd say - especially if Felix leaves.

18:36

Brighton winger departs

A Brighton winger has left the club. No, it's not Kaoru Mitoma going to Saudi Arabia, but Caylan Vickers departing for Mansfield.

The 20-year-old has joined the League One club on loan having joined the Seagulls this time last year.

He's been in good form for the Under-21s - let's see how he can adapt to senior football.

18:31

Burnely defender departs

John Egan, formerly of the likes of Sheffield United and Brentford, has left Burnley to join Hull City.

The Irish centre back joins for an undisclosed fee, and will help City in their relegation fight having been unable to get in the Scott Parker's side, which has an oh so impressive defensive record.

A great signing for the Tigers.

18:27

Alcaraz on Merseyside

Carlos Alcaraz is on Merseyside and having his Everton medical ahead of his move back to the Premier League.

Still only 22, he is returning to England having previously played for Southampton.

A decent coup for the Toffees, with Dwight McNeil still out and David Moyes hunting for a midfielder.

'Middlesbrough showing late interest in Liverpool star'

Championship club Middlesbrough are showing an interest in doing a late deal to sign Liverpool midfielder Tyler Morton.
Morton stuck around at the Anfield club in the summer despite mass interest from sides in England and on the continent — Bayer Leverkusen were one of those pushing — but has hardly had a look-in aside from the Carabao Cup.
Boro, who have Liverpool’s Ben Doak on loan, are keen on him on a permanent deal. Michael Carrick’s team play rivals Sunderland tonight.

18:19

'No further incomings for United'

Manchester United have confirmed there are no further incomings expected before tonight’s deadline.
The club went into the window with the view of adopting a sensible and financially disciplined approach to incomings and outgoings.
The football leadership group and coaches say they are pleased with the business done - in Patrick Dorgu, Ayden Heaven, and Diego Leon (pre-contract): talented, young players bought for the long term without high fees.
The club enquired for Mathys Tel and Christopher Nkunku but were not prepared to be reckless or take expensive risks with high loan fees for unproven young players with no buy option nor were they attracted by developing players for competitors.
They maintain their stance offers broader scope for summer window where there are better opportunities available for players that fit their long-term plans; anything spent in January would have reduced their summer budget.
United are working within tight financial constraints and PSR limits; all the changes they are making are to enable investment in football; which is why they continue to examine options to reduce costs and raise revenues.
18:14

Rangers make summer signing

Haven't seen too may of these this month (good evening, Liverpool fans), but Rangers have picked up a player on a pre-contract agreement.

Lyall Cameron will move to Ibrox when his contract is up at Dundee in the summer.

The 22-year-old will essentially be Rangers' first signing of the summer.

18:08

Your views on today's moves

Anonymous, London: Tel says no to Spurs, waits for another bid from another club. It doesn’t come, now he’s heading to Spurs! I’m not a Spurs fan, but that’s a kick in the teeth from the start.

DreamTrain, London: Embarrassing window for Chelsea, didn't address the goalkeeper, central defender or striker..but chasing an unknown 19yr old French midfielder whose been on loan at Las Palmas.

Moody, Kent: The only signings Liverpool need is Virgil, Salah and Trent.

Darlek75, Stourbridge: Liverpool should keep Danns a good player to have as a backup, especially in the cup competitions, to give others a rest!

Less than five hours to go

We're running a bit starved in terms of completed deals. The calm before the storm, perhaps.

There's lots going on. Tel, Asensio, maybe one or two surprises.

The clock has ticked past 6pm now, so less than five hours remain. 11pm is the deadline, remember.

17:56

'No more business expected at West Ham'

As Mail Sport said earlier today, there’s no more business expected at West Ham tonight. Evan Ferguson has joined from Brighton on loan until the end of the season. James Ward-Prowse has returned from his loan at Nottingham Forest after the two clubs agreed to terminate the deal.
That's it unless something remarkable happens but with a game at Chelsea kicking off in a couple of hours the chances of that happening are very small indeed.
The pursuit of young Celtic striker Daniel Cummings is now expected to happen in the summer after the Scottish club rejected two bids this morning and West Ham now working on a pre-contract agreement.
I don't think Hammers fans should be too disgruntled. Graham Potter didn't want the club to sign players for the sake of it and they've ended up with a striker he knows well in Ferguson to help ease the attacking injury burden and a midfielder, a position they were looking at in the window, with bundles of Premier League quality and experience and, therefore, no risk at all.

17:53

United dealt injury blow

Manchester United's fears have been realised, with Lisandro Martinez out for the rest of the season, reports have suggested.

The defender went off on a stretcher against Crystal Palace, and it has been reported that his ACL has been torn.

United, though, aren't expected to go into the market for a replacement.

17:49

'Malacia in talks with PSV'

Manchester United left back Tyrell Malacia is in talks to join PSV Eindhoven on loan.
The Netherlands international saw a move to Benfica fall through at the weekend after saying his goodbyes to team-mates on Saturday along with Marcus Rashford.
He has also had interest from Celtic and Real Betis.

17:44

Birmingham seal permanent deal

In League One, Birimgham have exercised the option to sign Taylor Gardner-Hickman permanently.

The versitile star has played 29 times for the third division leaders this season, mostly in central midfield or at right back.

He had been on loan from Bristol City, but the move is now permanent.

Birmingham are romping to the title, and this will give them another boost.

17:41

Garnacho to stay at Man United?

We'd be very, very surprised if Alejandro was to leave United at this point.

It had, at one point, seemed as though his time at the club was up, with both Chelsea and Napoli talking to United. But nothing transpired.

After he was left out of the team for the Manchester derby a dozen games ago, Ruben Amorim has been very complimentary of the forward in terms of his training standards and ability to play in his system.

Reborn? Maybe.

17:32

Chelsea recall loan star

Chelsea have recalled forward David Datro Fofana from his loan spell with Goztepe SK in Turkey.

He made nine appearances for the club, scoring twice. He has played just four times for Chelsea.

Back on loan tonight? Maybe. Feels a pointless one if not.

17:27

'Everton make late enquiry'

Everton made a late enquiry for West Brom winger Tom Fellows but he looks set to finish the season at the Hawthorns.
Brighton are keen on signing the 21-year old but most likely in the summer.

Asensio to Villa edging closer

In Aston Villa-related news, Cher Ndour has completed his permanent move from Paris Saint-Germain to Fiorentina.

That frees up an international loan for the French champions – which should be that of Spanish forward Marco Asensio, who should join Villa until the end of the season.

If the Asensio deal is completed, it will be fascinating to see how Unai Emery plans to divide playing time between him, Rashford, Watkins, Rogers and Malen.

Bishop goes on loan

Sunderland goalkeeper Nathan Bishop had dropped down to Cambridge on loan for the rest of the season.

I actually first saw Bishop in action for Southend a few years back when he was a teenager before he moved to Manchester United.

I was really intriduged to see how he got on there, but he never made an appearance and signed for Sunderland.

Now, though, he will likely get game time in League One with Cambridge. Plenty of time for him to shine yet.

17:11

Who is Mathys Tel?

We're still waiting on confirmation of Mathys Tel's sensational move to Tottenham to be confirmed.

We know the 19-year-old has landed in England to get the deal over the line. It comes after he rejected the north London club earlier this week in terms of a permanent move.

It seems like every club and their dog have been interested in his services, with Tottenham winning the race.

We know things can still go wrong at this stage, however, so it's not over until it's over.

But who is Tel? Click below for an explained from my colleague Zac Campbell.

17:04

Celtic open talks with Crystal Palace

Celtic have opened talks with Crystal Palace over a loan deal for Jeffrey Schlupp.

Schlupp has played 16 times for Palace this season, but it's first choice. He can fill in just about everywhere, from central midfield, to left back, to out wide.

He's been with Palace since 2017, making 247 appearances for the Eagles.

Palmer heading to Ipswich

Ipswich Town are signing West Brom goalkeeper Alex Palmer in a £5million deal.

Arijanet Muric has struggled since his move from Burnley in the summer. Christian Walton, meanwhile, is injured.

Palmer could well go into Portman Road and be No 1. But they will at least have cover.

West Brom, meanwhile. are signing Danish striker Tammer Bany from Rangers for £3m.

Merson: 'Amorim's job is on the line'

Paul Merson, Sky Sports:

I think the manager is running out of ideas. What he has done with Rashford is mind-blowing. I think his job is on the line with Rashford.
If he gets 10 in 10 you would be seriously asking questions, what are you doing?
United need a big strong lad up front. They should go and get Mateta. But they won't because he plays for Palace. He is 100 times better than what they have at Man United, apart from Diallo.

More on Essugo

Dario Essugo, 19, has spent the season on loan with Spanish outfit Las Palmas and has impressed with his displays in the heart of midfield throughout 2024-25.

The young midfielder has scored one goal in 14 matches during his time in LaLiga and has drawn the attention of Chelsea.

Mail Sport understands that the Blues have enquired over Essugo's availability as they look to bring in a midfielder during transfer deadline day.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have also agreed a deal to sign Mathis Amougou from St-Etienne ahead of tonight's transfer deadline.

Sutton: 'It's up to Rashford'

Mail Sport's Chris Sutton, Sky Sports:

Time will tell with this one. It is up to Marcus Rashford. If it is the Rashford of a couple of season ago, it will be thrilling for Villa. But he seems to have been a disruptor to the last two managers so maybe the move will do him good.
It's up to him. On a loan deal, he is on a sort fo trail period. If he does well and knuckles down, it will suit both parties. He has to work hard and take the opportuntiy to get his career back on track.

Mario Lemina close to Wolves exit in £2.5m deal: Mail Sport confirmed

Mario Lemina is close to leaving Wolves and signing for Galatasaray in a £2.5million deal.

A shame how things have declined for him at Molineux. He was outstanding last season yet lost his focus this term.

Disciplinary issues cost him the captaincy and new boss Vitor Pereira hasn’t picked him during the transfer window. He should still be remembered fondly, though.

Breaking:Chelsea agree £10m deal for French midfielder

Chelsea have agreed to sign St-Etienne midfielder Mathis Amougou.

Chelsea have been enquiring over a number of young midfielders over the past week.

Updates on major deals

  • Mathys Tel - set to join Tottenham on loan from Bayern Munich after a sensational u-turn. Has landed in the UK ahead of a medical.
  • Joao Felix - has joined AC Milan on loan fro Chelsea.
  • Evan Ferguson - has joined West Ham on loan from Brighton.
  • Ben Chilwell - set to join Crystal Palace on loan from Chelsea after medical.
  • Lloyd Kelly - bound for Juventus in a £20m deal from Newcastle, an initial loan followed by an obligation to buy in the summer.
  • Nico Gonzalez - Man City close to signing midfielder from Porto.
  • Marc Guehi - expected to stay at Crystal Palace after they snubbed a substantial bid from Tottenham.
  • Axel Disasi - Tottenham have ended interest in Chelsea star, Aston Villa remain an option.
  • Christopher Nkunku - Chelsea's price is too high for Man United.

Potential updates on Mario Lemina to Galatasaray; Conor Coady and Craig Dawson in a potential swap deal between Wolves and Leicester; Everton trying to sign Carlos Alcaraz (not THAT one) Crystal Palace seeking a defender; Rob Holding from palace to Sheffield United; and many more.

And lastly, I am now off in a huge move back home, with Lewis Browning joining on a seven-hour deal until the end of the window, and perhaps beyond.

'Heads must ROLL at Chelsea' - fans baffled by Joao Felix exit

Well, well, well.

Joao Felix has left Chelsea to join AC Milan on loan, despite only joining over the summer in a £42.7million deal. Not exactly the textbook definition of shrewd business.

As one fan writes on X (with different figures to Mail Sport's): 'Joao Felix going on loan should immediately cause some heads to roll internally. You cannot spend €57m on a player, hand them a 7-YEAR contract, and then send them on loan six months later because they aren't good enough. Where is the accountability?'

Mail Sport understands that his Chelsea contract six-year deal with the option of an extra 12 months, so there is plenty of time for reparations.

Man City close to sealing Nico Gonzalez signing

At this point I’d be very surprised if Man City didn’t add Nico Gonzalez to their squad by the close of play and it will take January spending to around £175million.

Just a small few details to tie up before they can crack on with formalising the deal. Midfield's been a major problem area for Pep Guardiola this season and this signing would prove a huge boost in their quest for the top four.

Revealed: Everton's stance on buying a striker

The consensus from Everton's backroom team is there are no quality strikers available at the right price in this market who will come in and improve the team so therefore there is little point in spending money for the sake of it.

Everton have Chermiti coming back in 3-4 weeks, while the news on Armando Broja is also more positive than initially thought (four to five weeks) while Dominic Calvert-Lewin should also be be back before the end of the season.

A couple of fringe players from the U21s could be going out on loan.

Midfielder Harrison Armstrong is one to watch with a number of Championship clubs looking for a late loan.

As it stands, Everton are unlikely to add any more signings once Carlos Alcaraz is confirmed.

  • Chelsea wing-back Caleb Wiley has joined Watford on loan.
  • Preston North End have signed Watford defender Ryan Porteous on loan until the end of the season.
  • Free agent Adam Reach has joined League One promotion chasers Wycombe Wanderers.

Evan Ferguson's first words as a West Ham star

Evan Ferguson says he’s relishing the chance to work with Graham Potter again after completing his loan move to West Ham.

Hammer boss Potter handed the Brighton striker his debut on the south coast and will work with him once again until the end of the season.

West Ham are understood to be paying Brighton a loan fee for Ferguson and covering his wages with no option or obligation to buy in the summer.

‘I can see and know how big West Ham is,’ Ferguson told West Ham TV. ‘It was a big opportunity for me to come here. I know the gaffer well and look forward to working under him again.

‘I want to come in and do my best for the club, score goals, and see where we get to.’

He is not eligible to face Chelsea tonight.

Chelsea want to add another midfielder before 11pm.

Arsenal dealt hammer blow by Tel switcheroo's

The news that Mathys Tel is on his way to Tottenham makes any chance of an incoming signing for Arsenal now a slim one.

Again, as seen with the Raheem Sterling deal, which only got off the ground in the early afternoon on the summer window’s final day, a new forward for the Gunners could still be signed on loan. These situations move fast. But the Tel news makes that prospect even further away.

If you're a Tottenham fan logging on and wondering who on earth 19-year-old Mathys Tel is, here are the key details:

  • Started his career with Rennes in France and became their youngest player aged 16 in 2021.
  • Won U17s Euros with France in 2022.
  • Bundesliga-winning winger with Bayern Munich in 2022-23.

Joao Felix's agent working hard to secure AC Milan move

Joao Felix is expected to be left out of Chelsea's squad for West Ham today as his agent Jorge Mendes is working hard to get him to AC Milan.

I'm told – but not yet had verified from Chelsea side – that a loan offer has gone in for Joao.

Right now, I'd say he's more out of the door than in it, but big work to do on it. What a strange signing that has been, if indeed he does leave. Signed for £46.3million, spend six months in the B team, then potentially leaves.

Meanwhile, Caleb Wiley's loan to Watford has now been confirmed by Chelsea, so that frees up an extra international loan slot as reported earlier.

West Ham complete Evan Ferguson loan signing

Earlier today we brought you a leaked image of Evan Ferguson strutting his stuff in a Hammers kit for the first time.

Now Graham Potter has his man as West Ham have ratified the deal.

Over to you, Ferguson, a player of abundant promise. Many strikers have been through the door at the London Stadium in recent years and few have shone as they would hope.

He's still only 20, remember, and as a loan deal it's low-risk. Do you think he will succeed? How many goals will be bag in the second half of the season?

Sky Germany reports that Mathys Tel is on his way to Tottenham to seal a loan deal.

Wolves could bring BACK ex-captain Conor Coady in shock swap deal

Here’s an interesting one. Conor Coady is one of Wolves’ best-loved players of modern times and he could be on his way back to Molineux from Leicester, with Craig Dawson heading in the opposite direction.

Discussions are underway between the two clubs. Coady is comfortable in a back three, which Vitor Pereira prefers, while Dawson would give Leicester the sort of defensive commitment they have been sadly lacking.

  • Nico Gonzalez - City negotiating to sign Porto midfielder but release clause stands at a hefty £50m.

Man City's £50m target SLAMMED by pundits

It's safe to say Paul Merson and Tim Sherwood are left unimpressed by Manchester City's pursuit of Porto midfielder Nico Gonzalez.

As Mail Sport reported earlier, the move hinges on whether City can negotiate the Portuguese down from a £50million release clause or pay the money.

Sherwood told Sky Sports: 'This boy is going to be a massive risk. He won't play and they'll end up shipping him out again.

'What are they signing him for? Unless they're going to beat Real Madrid in the Champions League, they've got nothing else to play for.'

Merson told Sky Sports: 'If they buy this lad, they must be panicking to get in the top four. '

Some Football League deals to catch up on..

I know there will be plenty of EFL fans reading so here are a couple of deals we haven't mentioned today.

  • Notts County have signed Mai Traore, a forward from Norwegian club Fredrikstad, for an undisclosed fee. He won the Norwegian Cup last season. County sit third in League Two.
  • Bradford City have signed Peterborough United defender Romoney Critchlow. He is their fifth signing of the window as they target promotion from League Two, currently sitting seventh under Graham Alexander.

CRAIG HOPE: A further update on Tommy Watson and Brighton. I’m told the teenager is travelling south today in the hope of a deal being agreed with Sunderland.

Marc Guehi looks set to stay at Crystal Palace

He's been one of the most courted men in the Premier League in recent windows - Newcastle had four bids rejected for him in the summer - but Crystal Palace look set to keep hold of Marc Guehi, as our very own Sami Mokbel reports.

A huge boost for Oliver Glasner if they can, with the Eagles putting together a nice run in form.

They rejected a bid from Tottenham last night. Spurs have tried again today but to no avail.

Man United 'should sign MATETA'

Here's a pearl from Paul Merson and, to be honest, I don't think it's a bad shout. Sometimes the unglamorous option pays off.

He says United should sign Jean-Philippe Mateta, who has 13 goals this season and bagged twice yesterday at Old Trafford.

'He's at the top of his game, he leads the line, he's a handful, he works his socks off, but they won't because he pays for Palace,' Merson told Sky Sports.

'He's 100 times better than the other players in the front line apart from Amad. They're playing Mainoo up front!'

It's 'IMPOSSIBLE' for Arsenal to sign a title-winner

Tim Sherwood - admittedly of Tottenham affiliation - tells Sky Sports it's 'impossible' for Arsenal to sign anyone who could win them the title this season due to their points gap to Liverpool.

They're six points off the pace and the Reds have a game in hand.

Is there any point in splashing the cash now, Arsenal fans? Is this season already a write-off?

Some would say no, especially given they qualified for the Champions League last 16 in third place in the group phase.

Joao Felix 'is being PUSHED to AC Milan' from Chelsea

Joao Felix's agent Jorge Mendes is reportedly pushing the Chelsea outcast to sign with AC Milan ahead of the January transfer deadline.

Mendes has flown to London for talks with the west London club in an effort to convince them over a loan deal to Milan until the end of the season, although the Serie A side are understood to be unwilling to pay the star's entire salary during that period.

In addition, Milan reportedly have no interest in paying a fee for the potential six-month loan deal.

Given that Chelsea are eager not to let Felix leave for nothing, Mendes has jetted to the English capital to try and find a comprise between to two clubs, according Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Where are Arsenal most likely to do business today?

Arsenal are leaving their transfer business to the final day once again.

Last time out, over the summer, they signed Raheem Sterling on loan in the final minutes of the window.

That move has yet to pay dividends. Today will again go down to the wire.

If a deal is to be done, a loan from abroad for a forward is the route they will almost certainly go down. It can’t be a loan signing from the Premier League, having used their allotted two on Sterling and goalkeeper Neto.

Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel, who is being monitored by Chelsea and Manchester United, too, tops that list.

Only time will Tel on Man United deal

Still nothing moving on Mathys Tel and United as it stands.

Mail Sport reported on Sunday how talks had hit an impasse, despite being encouraged that he wanted to join them, and that a loan deal had become 'unlikely'.

Tel rejected Tottenham on Friday while Arsenal remain in the background for a deal.

Bayern are however in talks with Arouca to sell Taichi Fukui permanently, he was loaned out, and free up a potential international loan spot for Tel in case of a deadline move.

Nothing moving for Tyrell Malacia either just yet.

Leicester loan out promising star

Born in 2005... man, that makes me feel old.

Will Alves, 19, has joined Cardiff on loan from Leicester City.

He is well thought of at Leicester but has only managed five first-team appearances, so this is a case of getting experience in his legs.

Alves debuted for Leicester aged 16 in 2022 and was rewarded with a new four-year deal over the summer.

One to keep an eye on.

What are we expecting today at West Ham?

We’re expecting a relatively quiet day at West Ham.

Ward-Prowse is back from his loan spell at Nottingham Forest and Evan Ferguson will complete his own loan from Brighton later today.

Other than that, club insiders have told Mail Sport they do not expect any other business today.

They play Chelsea tonight and want deals wrapped up early.

There’s been talks for Celtic striker Daniel Cummings but that’ll likely have to wait for the summer with the Scottish giants not wanting to sell today.

But this is West Ham, after all. Dramatic things can happen.

It's been a busy last couple of days for Brighton - hanging on to Mitoma, allowing Barco to leave on loan, and letting go of Baker-Boaitey.

Well, we can now add defender Ruairi McConville to the list of departures. He joins Norwich for an undisclosed fee.

Facundo Buonanotte could LEAVE Leicester

Facundo Buonanotte is an interesting one.

The Argentine attacker is open to cancelling his loan arrangement at Leicester and returning to Brighton, who would then loan him out again.

That would allow Leicester another Premier League loan. But there’s not long left and may be tricky to find a solution for Buonanotte that suits everyone.

West Ham's new signing... well, sort of

West Ham have confirmed the return of James Ward-Prowse from his loan at Nottingham Forest. There was no recall option in the deal until the summer so both clubs have agreed to cancel the loan prematurely and send him home.

Graham Potter rates Ward-Prowse and believes he can play a key part in midfield, an area where the club have been looking to strengthen in the window.

Time to roll out the ‘like a new signing’ klaxon!

Exclusive:Sunderland demand Simon Adingra in return for Tommy Watson

Sunderland will only allow Tommy Watson’s proposed transfer to Brighton to proceed if Simon Adingra moves in the opposite direction.

The Seagulls have seen an £8.5m offer plus add-ons rejected for the 18-year-old winger, who is rated as one of the most exciting prospects outside the Premier League.

However, Mail Sport can reveal that Sunderland want Ivorian wideman Adingra, if they are to accept an offer from Brighton. That deal would likely be a loan with an obligation to buy if the Black Cats win promotion to the top flight.

Brighton have already rejected a £20m offer from Marseille for Adingra and it is thought they do not want to let him go this window.

Manchester City are in talks to try and sign Porto midfielder Nico Gonzalez. He has a release clause of £50million but they could negotiate a lower fee.

It's not just Ben Chilwell...

Talks are ongoing with AC Milan for Serbia centre-back Strahinja Pavlovic while their alternative is Tiago Djalo at Porto who is on loan there from Juventus.

What are Kieran Trippier's chances of an exit?

Mail Sport understands that Newcastle are set to rebuff Galatasaray's move for Kieran Trippier. They've become quite the destination for former Premier League stars but Trippier does not appear to be joining that contingent.

What do Everton need?

The main thing for David Moyes today is to sign a striker. Beto was excellent in Saturday’s win over Leicester but, with neither Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Armando Broja set to be fit this side of mid-March, they desperately need an extra No 9.

Moyes said on Friday that he was trying ‘every man and his dog’ to get new signings through the door. The temptation to make a dog pun here is great but I will hold back for now.

Middlesbrough loan wing-back with Champions League pedigree

Michael Carrick has got his man.

Middlesbrough have loaned in Aston Villa wing-back Samuel Iling-Junior, 21, until the end of the season.

He has only just finished a stint at Bologna, where he made more Champions League appearances than Serie A ones.

Iling-Junior, who has played up to U21s level with England, was at Juventus for two years and got his fair share of minutes before joining Villa over the summer.

A signing with a lot of promise for Boro.

Everton near deal for midfielder

Everton are closing in on the signing of Argentine midfielder Charly Alcaraz, 22. Mail Sport reported on Friday how they were close to signing the former Southampton and Juventus ace to bolster their midfield department.

There was a slight worry as Alcaraz has already played for Saints and Flamengo this season. FIFA rules permit players to only feature for two clubs in one season. But as the Brazilian campaign has finished, this is not an issue.

Sacked on deadline day!

Carlisle fans were perhaps hoping to see the club announce a signing when they released a statement this morning, but instead, they're finding out that they have sacked manager Mike Williamson after four months.

The Cumbrian outfit are on track for a second successive relegation and risk dropping out of the Football League for the first time in 20 years.

Jhon Duran enjoys Saudi training

A fearsome strike in training from Jhon Duran as he settles in at Al-Nassr following his £65million move from Aston Villa.

'I grew up watching Al Nassr. I've always wanted to play for them,' he said upon joining. Right.

10:19

How much do clubs spend on deadline day?

The January transfer window last season was unusually quiet, with Premier League clubs spending £100m.

That was the lowest in a non-Covid season since 2011-12 and a £715m drop from the 2023 winter window.

Indeed, the record for a winter window was that £815m total in 2023. Not sure we'll get anywhere near that today but let's see what happens.

Are Nkunku and Garnacho going anywhere?

Minimal movement on Christopher Nkunku this morning despite Manchester United being keen. Will need to accelerate quickly if the Chelsea attacker is to leave before tonight's deadline.

I've made checks on Alejandro Garnacho but not much information coming out on that one as of yet...

Aston Villa agree loan deal

Aston Villa have announced that defender Sil Swinkels, 21, has joined League One strugglers Bristol Rovers until the end of the season.

He debuted for Aston Villa in the FA Cup in 2021 when an inexperienced outfit lost 4-1 to Liverpool. Louie Barry scored that day. The youngster made a further outing in the Carabao Cup against Wycombe earlier this campaign.

A decent move for Swinkels, who last season came back from a year-long ACL injury.

Brighton CONFIRM Stefanos Tzimas capture

Marcus Edwards to Burnley CONFIRMED

This is a big move with Burnley looking to get back into the automatic promotion spots - they've confirmed the move for Sporting forward Marcus Edwards which we mentioned earlier.

He said: 'It feels amazing. Burnley is like a Premier League club. I’m really happy to be here.

'I know Scott (Parker) from my time at Spurs. I know what he’s like. He’s ambitious, he’s driven. We had a good relationship back then so when I knew he wanted me to come that was enough for me.”

'From knowing what he’s like and how he is and the fact that Burnley is such a big club in general. It made sense.

'The main thing now is to get promoted back to the Premier League. I’m coming here to try and get myself into the team. I hope we can make it over the line this season and I hope Burnley fans will enjoy watching me play too.'

They've been

up to their old antics with their announcement video...

Marcus Rashford: 'I can decide games - let's create history'

Bold words from Marcus Rashford after joining Manchester United on loan. He does caveat it, of course, by saying: 'When I'm at my best.'

There are few managers in the industry more likely to get the best out of Rashford than Unai Emery. With Jhon Duran out the door, there should be chances. He just has to take them.

Tottenham END interest in Axel Disasi - over to Villa

Tottenham are currently out of the running for Axel Disasi despite previously agreeing a loan deal with Chelsea, sources have confirmed to Mail Sport.

It is over to Aston Villa, therefore, who have been Disasi's preference. The issue is Chelsea see Villa as direct rivals for a Champions League place, so they would have preferred to do business with Tottenham.

Man City in talks for £50m-rated midfielder

JACK GAUGHAN: So, are Manchester City going to respond to that shellacking at Arsenal yesterday by sanctioning a new midfielder today?

Nico Gonzalez from Porto is the target and the move hinges on whether City can negotiate the Portuguese down from a £50million release clause or pay the money.

The two clubs are talking this morning over a deal and Gonzalez - as it stands - is in the Porto squad for their game tonight.

The word this morning is that Chelsea's initial approach for young midfielder Nico O'Reilly came earlier in the window and that was knocked back after they refused to agree on a buyback option being included.

Burnley set to bag highly rated forward

Marcus Edwards is set to join Burnley on loan for an initial £800,000 fee with a £10m obligation to buy.

He hasn't been in the reckoning as much at Sporting CP this season but the former Tottenham youth star is a title-winner there and you wonder if a Premier League club should have moved for him.

Good deal and fee for Burnley if they can fully secure it.

To celebrate football's wackiest day

I'm really hoping for another classic moment today. I wonder what odds you could get on Bukayo Saka will turn up at Tottenham's training ground demanding an immediate transfer...

Can't see that happening, but then again, we couldn't see these ones coming either! here are five of the craziest things to happen on transfer deadline days of yore.

Jan Bednarek to become a Roman?

A surprise link that we became aware of over the weekend – AS Roma have shown an interest in Southampton defender Jan Bednarek.

As it stands, we’re told progress is unlikely, but Saints are aware of Roma’s interest in the Polish international and a fee of £8m was being mooted.

Lloyd Kelly bound for Juventus - despite joining Newcastle over the summer

The message has been consistent from inside St James’ Park since December and it remains so today – do not expect incomings!

Lloyd Kelly will join Juventus today in a £20m deal. That is an initial loan followed by an obligation to buy come the summer.

And it is the summer to which Newcastle are looking. They believe the sales of Kelly and Miguel Almiron will leave them in a strong position from a PSR perspective heading into next season.

So, while Eddie Howe’s squad is obviously light, he is very unlikely to get reinforcement before tonight’s deadline.

Meanwhile, Galatasaray interest in Kieran Trippier will likely be rebuffed by the Magpies.

Liverpool agree loan deal

Here's a name that is becoming familiar to Liverpool fans, but now he's set to scrap it out at the bottom end of the Championship: Kaide Gordon.

The 20-year-old striker is set to join Portsmouth on loan after cutting short a temporary stint at Norwich.

He still remains Liverpool's youngest-ever scorer in the FA Cup.

Brighton let England youth international star go

Whatever happens in his life, Benicio Baker-Boaitey can hold on to one truth: he has a wonderfully alliterative name.

Brighton have confirmed that the England U20s winger has joined Championship side Millwall on a permanent deal.

Mail Sport's Simon Jones understands the deal is worth up to £1million.

09:08

Why is Chilwell going to Palace?

Ben Chilwell is heading on loan to Crystal Palace after they offered him a way out of his Chelsea exile towards the end of the January window.

The 28-year-old England left back will undergo a medical on deadline day before the deal is finalised.

It is not yet known what portion of Chilwell’s wages will be paid by his parent club as he heads to Selhurst Park until the end of the season.

Palace had been left short in the defensive department after Chelsea recalled Trevoh Chalobah from his season-long loan, while Chadi Riad has also suffered a serious injury.

Blues boss Enzo Maresca had been telling Chilwell since the summer that he needs to leave if he wants to play football this campaign.

This season, he has been handed only 45 minutes, as a substitute in the Carabao Cup win over League Two Barrow in September.

Chilwell joined Chelsea from Leicester in August 2020 for £50million and helped the club win the Champions League in 2021.

He has been capped 21 times by the England national team, scoring once.

Villa defender seals Leipzig loan

Kosta Nedeljkovic’s loan move to RB Leipzig starts a busy day for Aston Villa.

After completing the loan deal for Marcus Rashford, Unai Emery hopes to add Marco Asensio – also on loan – from Paris Saint-Germain, as well as a centre-back.

On Sunday, Chelsea were demanding a hefty loan fee for Axel Disasi, but the Frenchman wants to join Villa and that could focus minds in the final hours.

It looks as if Chukwuemeka's flight to Dortmund has been pushed back to 9.40am. Just enough time for him to browse the perfumes or overpriced jumbo Mars bars or whatever they sell in airports these days.

Celtic knock back West Ham bid

What's with Premier League clubs trying to sign unproven teenage strikers today?! A few of these teams need somebody for the here and now.

West Ham tabled an offer of £500,000 for Celtic's Daniel Cummings, 18, but the Scottish champions have snubbed that. He has, however, agreed a pre-contract deal with the Hammers.

Cummings made his debut recently off the bench against Aston Villa in the Champions League.

Chelsea back in for young forward

Chelsea have re-entered the race to sign Lorient striker Eli Junior Kroupi, 18.

Bournemouth have held talks in recent days but an approach from West Ham has fallen apart.

He's only 26 appearances into his career, so looks like one for the future.

Brighton set to add ANOTHER wonderkid?

Give it a year and they'll sell him for £80million...

Brighton have agreed a deal to sign 19-year-old striker Stefanos Tzimas from Nurnberg in Germany's second tier. The fee, as we understand, is £22million.

He has notched 10 goals in 17 games this season, but will he be able to make the step up? Well, maybe that doesn't matter for now, as he is slated to be loaned back immediately.

Jordan Henderson's tetchy press conference

I was glued to the entirety of this press conference last night. Perhaps slightly sad, I know.

But it is an enthralling watch, this back-and-forth between Jordan Henderson and the posse of Dutch scribes who he accuses of 99 per cent falsity.

Reports have suggested that he was trying to engineer a move away from Ajax, refused to play, and had the captaincy stripped. He had a strong retort to all of those claims...

Nottingham Forest terminate Ward-Prowse loan

James Ward-prowse is packing his bags and heading back to West Ham as Nottingham Forest have cancelled his loan.

He looked a good addition over the summer but has been limited to a handful of appearances off the bench in recent months.

It remains to be seen whether Graham Potter will have a use for him or if West Ham will try to find another move for him.

Let's check in with Chelsea

KIERAN GILL: Chelsea-wise, we should see several outings on loan – Ben Chilwell to Crystal Palace, Carney Chukwuemeka to Borussia Dortmund, Aaron Anselmino to Marseille – while Axel Disasi and Joao Felix are ones to watch.

But the fans want to see someone signed. I haven’t yet had word if Alejandro Garnacho is on or off the table, so I’ll put a check in on that now. Chelsea play tonight, of course, so that’s an added complication.

Arsenal star 'close to exit'

Jorginho is close to sealing a move to Brazilian club Flamengo, according to Globo.

Arsenal are said to have rejected the initial approach with a fee for their midfield star but Flamengo are not giving up.

His contract is up at the end of the season, so the Gunners might not have much control over this one...

Antony's dream debut

Manchester United castaway Antony notched an assist just 15 minutes into his Real Betis debut yesterday in a 2-2 draw with Athletic Club.

He was also, believe it or not, man of the match.

Amorim: 'We are trying everything'

Ruben Amorim says Manchester United are 'trying everything' to sign a striker - but will not repeat their past transfer market mistakes.

Speaking yesterday, he told reporters:

We are trying everything to improve the team without making the mistakes of the past and also trying to balance the urgency of the moment.
We know all of the aspects of our club in the moment but we are trying everything.
This market is really hard on clubs to make some deals. I want to improve the team so badly. I know what the team needs. Sometimes it's possible, sometimes it's not.
When the window closes we will see the players we have.
07:53

Ferguson closes in on West Ham

SIMON JONES: Evan Ferguson has completed a medical ahead of moving on loan from Brighton to West Ham.

The striker, who had offers from Chelsea and Everton, will sign until the end of the season for a fee plus performance-related bonuses.

West Ham will cover his wages in full.

The Hammers had been the favoured destination for the Republic of Ireland frontman despite late interest from Chelsea.

07:48

Chilwell set for medical

Good news for Crystal Palace.

Ben Chilwell will have a deadline day medical once the details are ironed out over a six-month loan deal with Chelsea.

Palace have been working hard to add a centre back or left-sided defender and Chilwell has been a target over the past week or so.

His parent club would need to be prepared to pay a portion of his wages in order for him to make the switch to Selhurst Park, however.

You can read more on this one below.

07:44

Disasi wants Aston Villa

As we reported last night, Chelsea defender Axel Disasi is leaning toward joining Aston Villa on loan over Tottenham.

He has struggled for appearances under Enzo Maresca at Stamford Bridge, playing just six Premier League games this season.

As such, the Blues are open to loan offers and have agreed terms with both Villa and fierce rivals Spurs over a potential move.

But we understand Disasi is more likely to head to the Midlands.

For all the details, click the link below.

United's Tel bid stalls

I think it's fair to say that yesterday did not go well for United.

They lost 2-0 to Crystal Palace at Old Trafford and were later dealt a transfer blow after their move for Mathys Tel hit the buffers.

Discussions reached an impasse yesterday and a resolution is viewed as 'unlikely' despite Tel wanting to join the club from Bayern Munich.

Arsenal have remained in the background.

It will be worth keeping a close eye on this one today.

Rashford joins Villa

This was the big story from last night.

Marcus Rashford has joined Aston Villa on loan from Manchester United until the end of the season, with an option to join permanently.

That clause could be triggered for a fee of £40million, we understand.

The move will see him play senior football for a different club for the very first time in his career after his falling out with Ruben Amorim.

Deadline day madness

Good morning, all! Welcome along to the chaos of transfer deadline day.

We'll keep you across every deal, development and rumour right here before the window slams shut at 11pm GMT tonight.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham are all expected to be active and we may see some of those iconic deal sheets wheeled out later.

For now, we'll kick off with the latest news before taking a look at what could play out later, including anything new on Mathys Tel.

Let's get started, shall we?

09:56

What will Liverpool's day look like?

A quiet day is forecast at Liverpool with no incomings expected — which has been the feeling all month.

A couple of outgoings will happen today, though, with young winger Kaide Gordon in talks to join Portsmouth on loan after he was recalled from a spell at Norwich earlier this month.

Sunderland look to have beaten Blackburn and others to the loan signing of talented forward Jayden Danns. Liverpool wanted to keep him until Deadline Day due to Diogo Jota’s injury but the Portugal star is now fit again.

A host of Championship clubs tried to sign midfielder James McConnell but he is now likely to stay put after boss Arne Slot was so impressed with him in the midweek loss to PSV Eindhoven.
