UPDATED:

The Early Childhood Council of Boulder County recently distributed more than $64,000 in child care scholarships to families experiencing hardships because of the freeze on the Colorado Child Care Assistance Program.

The program is Boulder County’s only countywide subsidy for child care. The subsidies have been frozen since the spring of 2024 because of federal, state and county funding shortages. In late 2024, the Early Childhood Council launched the Access to Opportunity Initiative in memory of former board member Bob Palaich.

The council is continuing to raise money for the fund. To contribute, donate at coloradogives.org/donate/Accesstoopportunity or send a check to the Early Childhood Council of Boulder County, 7105 La Vista Place, Suite 200, Longmont, 80503. Write “Access to Opportunity Fund” on the check’s memo line.
