The pooches’ goal for Halloween at LAX: no tricks, lots of treats and no stress.

Los Angeles International Airport hosted its annual “Howling Halloween” parade, Tuesday, Oct. 31 at the mammoth hub packed with stressed-out travelers (and perhaps a few ghosts and goblins on Halloween). The airport’s Pets Unstressing Passengers program provided the costumed canines.

More than 80 dogs and their handlers put on their very best costumes to entertain airport passengers in Terminal 1, and then hoofed it over to Terminals 2 and 3.

Southwest Airlines co-sponsored the event, adding seasonal decorations, giveaways and sweet treats for travelers.

Because air travel can be stressful for many people, LAX’s PUP program includes therapy dogs and handlers, who frequent gate areas to with visiting passengers awaiting flights.  The program also distributes information about LAX construction projects. Participants are registered with the with Alliance of Therapy Dogs, according to airport officials.
