Yes. Students earn a Master of Public Health.
The MPH program follow a trimester academic calendar with Fall term being September to December, Winter being January to April, and a combined Spring/Summer term from May to August. Required core courses are generally taken in sequence with your in-coming class cohort members. Elective classes are generally offered in specific semesters and students may choose which classes to take and when best fits their schedule. All courses are 8 weeks, with the exception of capstone courses which run over the full fall or winter term.
Most students will complete the program in two years but may not exceed five years to complete their degree program per the University of Michigan Regents requirements.
Students will get frequent access to faculty through live office hours and email.
No. The MPH capstone project requires trusted relationships with local organizational partners. At this time, Michigan Public Health is only able to support these relationships domestically. For this reason, the online MPH program is currently only open to United States citizens and permanent residents.
If you live outside of the United States, you can still learn from the University of Michigan School of Public Health by enrolling in an open course.
Yes, it is a base fee of $145 to submit an application via the online centralized application service SOPHAS (Schools of Public Health Application Services) . Fee waivers from SOPHAS are available for eligible applicants. Learn more.
Yes, you can apply to both programs through SOPHAS. However, if accepted to both, you will need to choose one prior to enrollment.
No, students cannot switch from an online to a residential program.
