The first details on the three new characters for Hulu‘s upcoming Buffy the Vampire Slayer revival have been revealed, including the new teen slayer who’s expected to lead the series. Series vet Sarah Michelle Gellar will be reprising her iconic character in a recurring capacity. Currently, she’s the only confirmed cast member from the original show set to return for the revival.
What do we know about the new characters in Buffy the Vampire Slayer revival?
Hulu has officially started the casting search for the first three main characters of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer revival. The streamer are reportedly looking for actors to play the roles of Nova, Hugo, and Gracie. At the moment, it’s still unclear if the said names would be the characters’ permanent names in the upcoming show, which is nearing to receive a pilot order.
- Nova – is a cerebral 16-year-old who is very smart and a bit of a loner.
- Hugo – is an out-and-proud nerd who comes from money,
- Gracie – a young expert on vampires, who will be introduced as an acolyte of Gellar’s Buffy.
Based on the iconic supernatural drama series, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer revival will be written and directed by Nora Zuckerman and Lila Zuckerman, who are also set to serve as showrunners. Oscar-winning filmmaker Chloé Zhao is also attached to direct and executive produce, alongside Gellar, Gail Berman, Fran Kuzui, Kaz Kuzi, and Dolly Parton. It is a production by 20th Television and Searchlight Television.

Created by Joss Whedon, the original show lasted for seven seasons from 1997-2003. It revolved around the misadventures of Sarah Michelle Gellar’s titular character, who juggles the desire to live a normal high-school life with her responsibilities of being a proficient hunter of demons and vampires. The series also starred Alyson Hannigan, David Boreanaz, Nicholas Brendon, and Charisma Carpenter, among others.
