While Marvel Studios has yet to match the strides it hit during the MCU’s Infinity Saga, the franchise could regain its glory days with the upcoming The Fantastic Four: First Steps, as per actor Paul Walter Hauser. While the Richard Jewell star’s role in the project remains a mystery to date, the film, helmed by Matt Shakman, will finally introduce Marvel’s first family into the MCU. And if Hauser’s recent comments are anything to go by, the movie should have a similar impact as 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy and 2018’s Black Panther did.

Paul Walter Hauser thinks The Fantastic Four: First Steps is like Black Panther

In a recent discussion, Paul Walter Hauser expressed his belief in the quality of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, going as far as to claim that it would be “the Marvel movie of the year.”

The Golden Globe awardee shared his thoughts regarding the much-anticipated MCU project while promoting his forthcoming movie, The Luckiest Man in America, in an interview with The Direct‘s Russ Millheim. Talking about the film’s immense potential, Hauser noted, “I think our movie, [The] Fantastic Four: First Steps, to me, only speaking from my opinion, everything I witnessed and took part in, everything I felt while in the presence of the creatives on the film, I believe we are the Marvel movie of the year. I believe we are the one to watch.”

He then reiterated his faith in the movie doing wonders for Marvel, saying, “I believe that this will go down in history as one of the ones that started a new tide of successful storytelling for the company. Sort of in the same way the Guardians of the Galaxy and Black Panther hit. They both hit in a certain way. I believe we are about to hit.”

While fans are yet to discover who Hauser is portraying in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, they will not have to wait long to find the answer, as the Matt Shakman directorial feature is scheduled to come out on July 25, 2025.
