Ant-Man’s Kathryn Newton has joined the cast of Ready or Not 2.
Directed by Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillet, Ready or Not was released in United States theaters in 2019. The horror-comedy movie starring Samara Weaving turned out to be a hit, making $57.6 million worldwide off a $6 million budget, and a sequel is now in development.
Per Deadline, Newton has now joined Weaving in the cast of Ready or Not 2. It is unclear who she will be playing at this time, as plot details remain under wraps.
Newton played Sammy in Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillet’s 2024 horror movie, Abigail. She starred as Cassie Lang in the 2023 Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania MCU movie, while her filmography further includes 2012’s Paranormal Activity 4, 2017’s Lady Bird, 2017’s Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, 2018’s Blockers, 2019’s Pokémon Detective Pikachu, 2020’ Freaky, and 2024’s Lisa Frankenstein.
What else do we know about Ready or Not 2?
Bettinelli-Oplin and Gillet (who also helmed 2022’s Scream and 2023’s Scream VI) are returning to direct Ready or Not 2, as are the writers of the first movie, Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy. Both Busick and Murphy also serve as executive producers alongside Chad Villella, Tara Farney, and Greg Denny, while Tripp Vinson, James Vanderbilt, Bradley J. Fischer, and William Sherak serve as producers.
A release date for Ready or Not 2 has not yet been announced.
The first Ready or Not movie, meanwhile, is currently available to stream on Fubo and FXNOW. It is also available to purchase or rent on platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and more.
The synopsis for the original movie reads, “Ready or Not follows a young bride (Samara Weaving) as she joins her new husband’s (Mark O’Brien) rich, eccentric family (Adam Brody, Henry Czerny, Andie MacDowell) in a time-honored tradition that turns into a lethal game with everyone fighting for their survival.”
