
MARYSVILLE — A Marysville police officer died Wednesday after being shot during a multi-agency attempt to serve a warrant in a multi-agency drug investigation at a home in southwest Olivehurst, the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Wednesday.
A motorized procession of aw enforcement officers from the region escorted the officer’s body from Adventist Health/Rideout Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, to a mortuary on D Street Wednesday afternoon. Among those on the procession route were members of city staff from the court house, and representatives from Sutter County.
The large American flag at 10th and E streets in Marysville was flying at half staff at noon today due to the officer’s death, a Marysville official said.
The Yuba County Sheriff’s Office said that a suspect is dead at the scene.
This is the statement released by the sheriff’s department at approximately 9 a.m.: “At approximately 7:50 a.m. this morning, an officer involved shooting took place during the execution of a search warrant in the area of Kestrel Court in Olivehurst. The operation involved several law-enforcement agencies throughout the area. At this time we can confirm that one law enforcement official has been shot and is receiving medical aid. There is no additional threat to the public. Please avoid the area. We will update the public as more information becomes available.”
