SARTA Athlete of the Week Nov. 3-9 | Layne Graffice, Vito McConnell win the vote

Athletes from Marlington and Massillon high schools won the voting for the SARTA Athlete of the Week for Nov. 3-9.

Layne Graffice of Marlington is the girls winner and Vito McConnell of Massillon wins for the boys. Graffice, who plays volleyball, received 74.41% of the votes cast. McConnell, a football player, received 96.01% of the votes cast.

A total of 2,257 votes were cast overall.

Layne Graffice, Marlington volleyball

Helped lead the Dukes to a win over Shelby in the semifinals of the OHSAA Division IV state tournament before totaling 11 kills and 11 digs in the championship match, a loss to Cincinnati Roger Bacon.

Vito McConnell, Massillon football

Led the team with six tackles (one tackle for loss) and caught a 3-yard TD pass in a 37-7 rout of Canal Winchester in a regional quarterfinal.
