Hero MotorCorp is among India’s leading two wheeler manufacturers. The company is headquartered in New Delhi. The story of Hero MotorCorp dates back to 1983 when Ludhiana-based bicycle firm Hero Cycles and Japanese two-wheeler major Honda Motor signed a joint agreement to manufacture 100 cc motorcycles in India. In 1984, Hero Honda Motors Limited was incorporated. A year later, Hero Honda would roll out its first motorcycle, CD100. By 1987, the company produced its 100,000th motorcycle. In the following years, Hero Honda continued to expand its production capacity and came out with newer models such as ‘Sleek’. 1994 was the year when Hero Honda launched ‘Splendor’ which goes on to become one of the best selling motorcycles in the country. In the 2000s, Hero Honda would climb new heights with the launch of new models such as ‘Passion’ and ‘Pleasure’ while older models such as ‘Splendor’ continued their run. 2005 was the year when Hero Honda ventured into the scooter segment with the launch of ‘Pleasure’. In 2007 Hero Honda achieved the milestone of producing over 20 million units. 2011 was a significant year for Hero Honda when the final licensing agreement was signed between Hero Group and Honda Motor. In the same year, the company rebranded and changed its name to Hero MotoCorp as it expanded into foreign markets. In 2013, Hero MotoCorp laid the foundation of the Neemrana production facility. In the following year, the company inaugurated its Global Parts Centre. 2018 marks Hero MotoCorp’s entry to the pre-owned two-wheeler market. The same year, Hero MotoCorp also launched an e-commerce portal for Hero Genuine Parts. The following year, Hero MotoCorp launched its first BS-VI-compliant motorcycle. 2020 was the year when Hero MotoCorp ventured into the connected mobility segment with ‘Hero Connect’. As of March 2022, Hero MotoCorp’s market share was over 48 per cent with the company selling over 106 million units.

While Hero MotoCorp has a diversified portfolio, the company is mostly known for the motorcycles it manufactures and sells. Splendor and HF Delux are among the standard motorcycles produced by Hero MotoCorp. In the Executive class, Hero MotoCorp sells motorcycles like Passion Pro and Glamour. In the Performance class, Hero MotoCorp sells motorcycles like XPULSE 200T 4V and XTREME 200S. Zoom, Maestro and Pleasure are some of the scooter models sold by Hero MotoCorp. Hero MotoCorp also operates service centres across India.
