Alert email notifications

Stay updated on the testing activities in your organization by configuring Alert emails.

You can configure Alert emails to receive an email when your custom alerts are triggered in build runs. The email lists all the alerts that were breached. It also contains build metadata like status, duration, Git commit ID, CI job ID, and more.

You can click the View Build Insights button on the email to view the Build Insights on Test Reporting & Analytics and start debugging. Test Reporting & Analytics lets you subscribe to email notifications on all of your custom alerts or specific alerts. You can also choose your alerts based on the intensity (Critical or Warning) level of the breach.

Configuring Alert email notifications

You can configure Alert email notifications at the Project level.

Project level

  1. You can subscribe or unsubscribe yourself or add others to notifications at Settings > Notifications. Alternatively, you can click the kebab menu on the top-right of Build Insights page.
  2. Switch on the toggle in the top right. If this toggle is switched off, email notifications will be disabled for the project. Email Notifications - Settings
  3. Click Add to add yourself or other BrowserStack users to the list of users. This list is unique for each project.
  4. Click the gear icon against a user to update the email notification settings.
  5. Switch on the Alerts toggle. In the checkbox that opens, you can choose All Builds or Specific Builds.

User email preferences

Users can disable notifications or unsubscribe from email notifications in the user preferences.

  1. Click Integrations on the sidebar, and click Configure next to Email. Email Notifications - Manage Subscriptions
  2. In the Manage subscriptions window, click the Configure option against Alerts to configure your email settings.
  3. In the Alerts configuration, you can switch the toggle button on or off against each build. Click Save to save your configuration.
  4. Click Save to save your configuration.

If a user disables the check boxes next to Alerts notification, they will not receive any emails until they re-enable them.

Troubleshooting if you aren’t receiving any emails

If you are not receiving any emails despite being added to a project and subscribed to emails via the Settings > Notifications, you need to check your user email preferences.

Go to Integrations, and click Configure next to Email.

Ensure that the check boxes next to Alerts is marked. If it is not checked, you will not receive any emails despite it being configured in the project-level settings.
