Area Softball: Pillager sweeps BHV

Six area softball teams were in action Thursday, April 17.

VERNDALE — Briana Blais struck out 17 batters over two games and 10.2 innings to earn two wins as the Pillager Huskies swept Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale 14-0 and 16-6 in a doubleheader Thursday, April 17.

Hunter Woidyla belted a home run and scored four to go along with two RBIs in Game One for Pillager. Bailey Rudrud went 3-4 with two runs and two RBIs while Blais added a double.

Anna Hegarty and Mady Anderson each tallied a hit for BHV in Game One.

Joslynn Klein finished 2-3 with a home run, two runs and four RBIs to help Pillager to the Game Two victory. Sophia Schrom scored four runs as she walked three times and was hit by a pitch.

Anderson scored two runs for BHV in the Game Two while Kyrstin Beyatt drove in two runs.

CROSBY — Haley Shereck went 4-5 with a double, triple, three RBIs and three runs as the Aitkin Gobblers won a Great River Conference game 23-0 over the Crosby-Ironton Rangers Thursday, April 17.

Maddy Burgstaler finished 4-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs. Sienna Melz went 2-2 with two triples and three RBIs. She also struck out nine in the circle.

Ellie Hoppe went 3-4 with three RBIs and three runs. Madellyn Schneider added a double and two RBIs. Samantha Edwards scored three times.

MCGREGOR — Ariana Burns went 2-2 with two doubles, three runs and three RBIs for the Pine River-Backus Tigers in a 17-1 win over McGregor Thursday, April 17.

PRB walked 15 times and tallied four hits. Kaitlyn Rilea scored three runs.

Bailey Crimmins allowed one run on two hits and walked six. She struck out four.

WDC 11, Parkers Prairie 0

PARKERS PRAIRIE — Jada Dykhoff finished 4-4 with a double, two triples, three runs and three RBIs as the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines earned an 11-0 Park Region Conference win against the Parkers Prairie Panthers Thursday, April 17.

Jenna Dykhoff went 3-4 with three RBIs and two runs. Alyssa Carr hit a double, scored a run and stole two bases.

Montana Carsten allowed no runs and no hits with one walk and one strikeout in three innings.
